      My bucket list:

      1. A vist to Pearl Paradise (to thank Erin personally for all the great service) and view the vault I imagine it is like the coffers of the SHAH of IRAN…cases and cases and cases of pearls.
      2. To attend a "Ruckus" sometime in the future
      3. A Trip to Guaymas and San Carlos and visit the guys at Perlas del Mar de Cortez?
      Friendly BlackPearlDudeDC:

You are most warmly invited to join us here in Guaymas for the pearl harvest celebration next year...or the one in 2017...just drop a note and let us know you're coming.
And you should really try to make it to the Ruckus (I have posted some of the previous Ruckus in my Cortez Pearl Blog), it is such a great gathering of friends and we are basically "swimming" in pearls all day long: pearl talks, pearl inspection, pearl drinks...simply decadent in a pearly fashion. You would love it.
Pearl-Paradise: The Vault. It is legendary. You really have to go there...the Fort Knox of Pearldom. And it ain't a "tourist trap"

I thank you for your love of Pearls...and Cortez Pearls

Very gracious offer to tour me around the pearl farm, I totally appreciate the welcome. If I am able to make it happen I will definitely let you know. I have already put the bug in several friends ears about taking a trip on a Pearling detour! Thanks again for the kind words!
No, Midge said, I take it back. I wouldnt get a mink coat the first thing. Know what Id do? Id get a string of pearls. Real pearls. Yes, Annabel said, slowly. I think thats a kind of a good idea. And it would make sense, too. Because you can wear pearls with anything.

A pig's head, interesting. I thought y'all would be eating oysters hahaha.

Someday I will go to one of the big events and meet all you lovely pearly people in real life. I am afraid I'll simply go mad from the thrill of seeing that many pearls at once though.

                        • I need tips on how to pack strands so the pearls are protected. Last Ruckus, I only had a couple of strands so I just packed them in their original boxes, but I need smaller, lighter weight packaging this time. I'm afraid the pearls will rub against each other and get damaged if I just use fabric pouches.

                          • Low tech solution...you could always pack them inside socks... As long as each strand is isolated, you shouldn't have to worry about clasps scratching pearls. Or even less elegant, individual ziplock baggies...

ID:	362005Didn't BAS do something with straws last year, or was that for her chains? If you like pixie stix sugar candy they come in short 250mm (10") plastic straws of 11.5mm tubes, in the States. You could trim the length and use two straws per necklace.

Maybe you can find someone to make up some sheer organza tubes/bags? It's a fairly straightforward sewing job. I'd prefer the organza bags myself, custom length with two open ends so you can clasp the strands.

Does anyone remember the name of the thread where we discussed pearl storage? There might be a link to travel jewelry rolls.

                              • lisa c ... yes, BAS suggested straws for storing chains. She also wrapped some of her strands in tissue, and then stored in bags, or leftover containers, if I'm remembering right. I used those ideas for last year's ruckus, and took the straw idea a step further. I used 2 thick straws (think bubble tea or smoothie straws) and ran pearl strands through, fitting the ends together. It was a lot of work, and large pearls don't fit. I think I'll go back to tissue paper around each strand, and then a bag or container ... but always looking for better suggestions
