A weekend adventure to meet up with pearl friends for a mini Ruckus at Pearl Paradise. Several of us stayed in Santa Monica to enjoy the beachy flavor.

We all met up at Pearl Paradise to spend the day playing with a spectacular once in a lifetime collection of pearls.
The greeters-

And some collector pieces that are once in a lifetime.
A few strands of soufflé pearls that were originally collected for Hisano’s little h line. The soufflé pearls were an experimental pearl that are no longer produced.

And these INCREDIBLE Akoya strands from the recently acquired private NY collection. If you are in the market for perfect, round, white, Akoya, you will not find anything as incredible as these. I cannot remember all the technical scientific stuff that Jeremy will need to help me out with, but these are old stock strands that were tucked away and not for sale. The pearls were grown in the original species of Akoya oysters, (don’t know the names) before disease created a need to introduce Chinese oysters.

And Jeremy is always entertaining us with everything pearl.
Here he’s talking about the Chinese FW pearls and how the farmers are now only creating bead nucleated pearls. Gone are the all tissue nucleated pearls. And some examples:

And then we were treated to the story of the necklace of natural pearls Jeremy found for Hisano

What a treat to spend the day playing at Pearl Paradise. Many thanks to Jeremy, Hisano and staff. And special thanks to Lucky for her cuteness that lasted all day. Well, almost… at the end of the day I found a trail from Hisano’s office…

And we’re done here…

Lucky was done, but some of us headed back to Santa Monica to celebrate Walter’s birthday!

And a tiny show and tell on the bed. I didn’t capture all the pearl choices since I spent so much time making decisions of my own.

I left with a pair of little h studs of Tahitians and sparkling white diamonds, and a strand of Fiji keshi which I will knot as a bracelet.

Thanks for the treat of all these fabulous photos! So much eye candy!

I found this so interesting:
"And Jeremy is always entertaining us with everything pearl.
"Here he’s talking about the Chinese FW pearls and how the farmers are now only creating bead nucleated pearls. Gone are the all tissue nucleated pearls."

So-- will future Freshadamas be bead nucleated? (I expect the answer is "yes.")

Bow, would a graduated triple strand of Assael be extraordinary. Sigh.

It was great to see so many friendly/pearly faces and such beautiful pearls...and in the end: it is the beautiful people that make the pearls even better!
And Happy Birthday to Walter! @CathyKeshi please send him my best!

It's interesting how the pearl industry is always changing. I have some souffle pearls and I don't really consider myself to be an astute collector. I'm guessing bead nucleated freshwaters are the future for speed and shape? No more waiting years and years for large, round pearls?
Thank you for sharing the photos from PP. I'd have a difficult time choosing!
