Do real men wear pearls?

I love it the photos of men in WSS and GSS, and my husband will get a kick out of seeing his photo in your article when I show him tomorrow.

I love that this thread is revived and the conversation is sparked again!!!!!! I am even more pleased you did an update on "Men in Pearls", all the Dudes look great! Thanks for the new feature/cover story!

Two things: one, an update on men in pearls here.

And two, the promised blue pearls here.

Thank you! It was planned, but I didn't have enough photos until we completed the ruckus. Love the last photo, especially.

I'm not exactly sure what to make of this, I have no negative judgements about it. Hip hop and Rap is notoriously "Macho" testosterone driven music, so if it becomes more mainstream in the music it will definitely change the view of men wearing pearls. I know a few artist such as Pharrel have worn "Chanel" pearls, and I've seen other Rappers wearing Tahitian pearls and other "Black" beads, that seemed rather Fadish, but this is pretty new for me to discover, Floyd "A1" Bentley is a songwriter (and music Artist):

I LOVED the pictures of the men in pearls. Gotta admit, some of them are dreamy. I'm not a fan of rap and would never have made a connection of rappers wearing pearls, but why not? The more pearls, the merrier!

wow, surprisingly looks good on him. I thought white pearls look too girly for men but I guess i'm wrong.

I must say you all have happily surprised me lol:cool::p

I like the white pearls too. On deck on our cruise last year, during the life boat drill, I saw a gentleman wearing an absolutely glowing large white South Seas round strand at his throat tucked into the open neck of his light blue shirt. He looked elegant, dignified and fabulous. Great pearls really look good on everyone from guys to girls to dogs, cats and even roosters, as we all know :)

Even more surprising, tonight across the booth at a late Bento box supper, I spotted a luminous Tahitian Kamoka pearl on black leather cord ... peeking out of my own husband's ... cheap T shirt LOL. When I asked for photo evidence, he ran for the car ...

LoL It is like bigfoot...without pictures it didn't happen, believe me I get that line all the time when it comes to pearls

And it's 2 days in a row! His first inclination was to put it in a box, in the wardrobe, and bring it out to wear "for good", like a bolo tie etc. When he took it off last night, he just stood there staring at it like "This pearl is actually pretty cool, but whatever do I do with it now???" So, I gently reminded him it should not be exposed to shampoo etc. in the morning shower, and invoked some of our "men in pearls" heroes by name (Thanks, guys!) and said "I think maybe they treat it like a watch ... take it off at night, lay next to your glasses, put it back on in the morning ..." Light bulbs went on, and this morning, the watch, the glasses, and the birthday pearl went out with Walter to help move our tiny silver house from one place to another LOL. Sorry, no photo proof yet :)

Cathy this is just wonderful ;) The "pack Mule" is now packing his own pearl.

LOL, Newberry! Today "the pearl" packed our tiny house off from temporary parking (a repair or 2 to do) back to the storage facility. Then it cut the grass, took a flat tire out to get fixed, put it back on the car ... and he didn't even take the pearl off to go to the mechanics' garage, although it was probably hiding under the T shirt :) On the other hand, they've known Walter for a few decades now and know to expect the unexpected ...

You're a lucky woman Cathy :)

I'll bet he looks so handsome wearing his Kamoka Pearl...keep it up, Walter!!

Thanks, my friends ... all that Pearl packing wore him out; snoring on the sofa "watching Perry Mason" ... when he watches with his eyes open, he always alerts me to ladies wearing pearls :)

As much as I really dig black pearls lately I really don' t wear them nearly as often as I probably could. The 2 snake bracelets (Tahitian and labradorite) probably get the most wear, it is my personality (until I find something even edgier).

Anyhow I wipe the pearl bracelet off at night and place it on jewelry cotton in the valet, near my keys in a separate slot and next to my eyeglasses. Coincidently keys and eyeglasses are the two things I always misplace most... so someone got quite tired of that and bought the valet for me, which worked out great for my jewelry as well.
