Save the Date: Pearl Guide Summer Ruckus 2011

Am feeling a bit remiss watching these plans unfold, as it is increasingly unlikely we will be able to come. But I would like to continue a tradition by offering a couple of whites and reds from our Spanish portfolio for Friday night and Saturday lunch (Saturday night for the frogs, or gavachos in Spain). If acceptable will arrange logistics with Jeremy.

Would have enjoyed trying that Baldwin piano in the corner…

Everyone have a great time.

I am so sorry. I would love to hear you tinkle some keys. I hope you can make it after all.

If you fly, check the tools through. I just found a sports satchel in our suitcase closet that I can pack my craft box into. Sheryl won't be flying, so maybe she can bring some tools. I will bring extras and lots of threads. A bead board or two will fit in there too.

Steve! It won't be the same w/out you there!

I am going to move this thread to the "news" section from the "other" section, if there aren't any objections.

I'm on a flight to New Orleans right now ... loving the inflght WiFi!

Pattye - I have lost a pair of cutters on a flight thinking they would be fine as they had such a short blade - sadly no, and Qantas just added them to the scrap metal collection!

I am still hoping to be there - haven't booked flights etc as yet as I am just back from HK...

I'll bring mine. Sorry, you'll be shocked by the low quality. I travel with tools, always checked, though. I don't want them taken (even though the quality will shock you) but I also have enough to carry on with the really good stuff. Here's a hint - if you get in early on Friday or Thurs. or are still around on Mon. check out the LA jewelry district for findings tools etc. everything except pearls! Going into Bella findings is a trip - but you need a tax or business license... and a lot of time. Let me know and I might be able to help you there. Also let me know if someone needs pick up from airport/transportation etc. I can help a little (as in 4 door Mini Cooper). Yikesy - Tom is so bummed he's missing this one and you should hear him on the piano!!

I won't be shocked by low quality tools. Ultimately, no matter how high quality the pearls, I am still just a lowly beader!

Friends, bring your broken strands and other "needy" pearls, even if you don't bring tools. We can fix most, and discuss the rest! While we lounge around in any or the nooks and crannies available to us.

I want to see that greenhouse!!!!

Hope you work it out. If for some reason you don't make it I think I know someone who could take that big Baldwin out for a ride. We'll see.

Hi Guys,

Sadly, it looks like I won't be able to make it either. I've been trying to juggle my obligations this summer but it doesn't look like it's going to work this year.
Have fun and post lots of pictures!!

What???? What I mean to say is...What?????????

Steve! Sad news. :(

I agree... I was hoping to see you and catch up on the Nautilus pearl information too. You will be missed :(

Also, I won't stay for Sunday morning-afternoon since I have an early flight back home and international travel advisory says you have to be at the airport at least 3 hours before the flight in order to get your prostate checked...er...something of the sort...I've been told it's one of the "perks" of visiting the US these days.

Hope to see you all real soon at the .... "Pearl Mansion"... ;)

Meethinks Mikkey is correct in saying: "What??????". You'll be missed as well.

The video might not work, but bring it. I never never seen it. Your book too. I'll bring mine, maybe pattye too. Ir is such a thin book that anyone who hasn't seen it can get through it quickly. I have another one, but it adds nothing to Virchik.

Just back this a.m. from Guatemala, so I was eager to catch up on the news as plans unfold. The mansion looks/sounds lovely (not to mention the menu!!!), but I am a little anxious about the prospect of driving back and forth from El Segundo to enjoy the festivities and people's company, so am wondering about the final decision as to how many revelers the "mansion" can accomodate, and the cost per head.

I'm a little befuddled from a long travel day, so can't say for certain whether or not I'll be able to demonstrate the wire knitting (would have to find equipment), but I'm afraid this particular technique requires a special tool, so I wouldn't be able to conduct an actual workshop this time around. If some other sort of brilliant idea pops into my addled head, I'll post back!

So sorry I won't see you, smeltzer and pearly shell! Hoping your plans might yet change...

Sheri

Will miss you Steve and Donna!!!! On the flip side, am did miss something - is Mikey now joining us. Sheri- you echo my earlier question, driving home is not in the picture, so I'm wondering as well.
