Jewelry industry. Currently I'm seeking for a Senior Manager (Pearl Management) who has direct experience in pearl sourcing and connections with pearl farms in China. As a Senior Manager (Pearl Management), you will play a crucial role in guiding the company as it embarks on its next phase of growth by managing and prioritizing the complete portfolio of gems related work and collaborate closely with the functional teams to develop and execute the strategy.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the sourcing and category management for pearl and pearl related categories.
  • Establish robust partnerships with suppliers, oversee their performances, and keep a close watch on suppliers’ adherence to standards and regulations.
  • Initiate suppliers’ evaluations and work collaboratively with all pertinent stakeholders to ensure stringent standards are upheld.
  • Lead efforts to reduce spending per supplier and enhance payment terms for cost savings.
  • Efficiently cooperate with the Production and Quality teams to ensure strict adherence to standards for direct materials, indirect materials, and more.
  • Ensure the sourcing process complies with all procurement governance and material compliance.
  • Contribute insights to the Legal team for crafting comprehensive master supplier or service provider contracts, encompassing essential clauses such as delivery, payments, governing laws, etc., and tailor contracts to accommodate specific needs.
  • Provide insights on local practices and constraints and ensure contract compliance with local regulations for the Plant Head's review.
  • Ensure the efficient execution of end-to-end category management tasks for the gems supply chain line, including:
    • Establish the strategic direction and conduct market research and benchmarking on suppliers, with input from the Production team and other pertinent stakeholders as well as collect market intelligence on emerging trends and shifts,
    • Carry out sourcing activities, which include identifying new raw materials in accordance with Innovation & Product Development requirements, supporting in new material initiatives, providing the existing supply catalog, conducting the Request for Proposal process, assessing competitive bids, negotiating with suppliers, and creating selection criteria that address user needs,
    • Negotiate and draft contracts in alignment with the master contract template. In the event of any deviations from the master template, consult with the Legal team to seek legal support and approval,
    • Establish and upkeep supplier master data and participate in pertinent governance forums as required,
    • Coordinate with the Innovation & Product Development division to initiate orders for existing materials by verifying Material Requirements Planning and, for new materials, collaborate with the Materials Management team or place orders through the Purchasing department.
  • Supervise the performance and evaluation of direct materials, indirect materials, and other suppliers, gathering input from various stakeholders such as Materials Management and Production. Conduct assessments in accordance with the agreed Service Level Agreements and data analysis to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide recommendations to the Legal team for revising the master contract and Standard Operating Procedures in response to evolving regulations, changes in working methods, and business risks.
  • Constantly enhance supplier assessment criteria and guidelines through close collaboration with various teams in C&S, including Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Finance, Materials Management, and Contract Manufacturing.
  • Regularly monitor personal performance and address any identified gaps or improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Management team on risk assessments, cost scenario analyses, pricing evaluations, updates on market intelligence and trends for each product category and suggest, initiate, and execute cost-improvement measures following in-depth analysis.
Job Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of working experience in a leadership position, with 3 years or more within operational supply chain experience, supply planning, purchasing, or in a relevant function.
  • Experience in the jewelry business (Man-made pearls of gemstone business is preferable).
  • Experience in managing responsible sourcing of gems within the E2E supply chain.
  • Experience in overseeing projects to ensure overall sourcing activities are within the timeline and budget to support project launch.
  • Experience in global enterprise is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Chinese communication skills.
  • A critical thinker with good problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with strong communication skills.
  • Experience handling teams and overseeing their performance on a daily and project basis.
  • Be able to lead, manage, and motivate people under supervision individually and as a team.
  • Be able to think creatively to create scenarios and find the right answers.
  • Ability to work independently and hands on.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to foster robust relationships with internal stakeholders and as pearl farms.
  • Possess a strategic perspective and create sustained results for the company both financially and non-financially.
  • Ability to make tough choices and make the right trade-offs for the company.
  • Provide exceptional work while handling both volume and complexity by planning and executing effectively.
The company is based in Bangkok, Thailand. However, for this position, you can work remotely from your home country.
