Dears PG Friends,
I though you might like to see what's hot as pearls at the Paris famous XXVI? Biennale ?

http://en.vogue.fr/jewelry/jewelry-...ennale-des-antiquaires-2012/8971/image/557021

there are not so much photos of pearls published and I was lucky enough to photoshoot pearls that I never saw in the media so far.
I am used to share photos with you, and from time to time members said I had not the right, but I do have. I have requested for special authorization to take pictures, besides it seemed that the high jewellery brands gave up prevent visitors from taking photos and everybody did so ...

As a beginning , here is the building where the exhibition takes place.
Tomorrow I will post some jewelry.

Thank you Anna,
Your photographic record of history and the present in pearls is wonderful!

Ready to start the visit?
I will show crescendo, the most extraordinary for the end.
This exhibition is said to be really extraordinary, only less than a dozain of high end jewellers were exhibiting and they created special models for the exhibition.
Well, for the begining here is the exhibition pavilion of Dior, with a part of Bulgari on the left, showing Liz Taylor who was a great fan of Bulgari.
Dior focused on tourmalines and opals and I did not see any pearls, so that 's why I start with them and consequently no pearls to day... see you tomorow :p

That was a joke, of course :D
Here is Chaumet. Chaumet was the jeweler of Napoleon french Emperor, so Josephine and family ...beg XIX ; that's why they are specialised in tiaras.
The gallery of what was exhibited can also be seen on Chaumet website :

There are pearls in exhibition, but to see the pieces in person, just really incredible ...

More jewelers this week.

Yes Caitlin, it is seed pearls, I will only post pearls here, glad you like it,
green drops are jade
the style is reminiscent of ancient necklace hung from the collar, can't find an exemple on google, but you know, that type of medieval necklace with a brooch that is attached higher on the dress

Thank you Anna! You always show us the coolest stuff!

10 jewelers were invited, there was Wallace Chan from Honk Kong, Bulgari Italy, Harry Winston from USA, Piaget from Swizterland,
the 6 others are french : Cartier, Chanel, Chaumet, Dior, Boucheron and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Ready for a visit to Van Cleef and Arpels Pavilion?

The decoration of pavilions is truly extraordinary and wonderful, I put some photos when I get some, enjoy.

Here is an amazing piece with cultured pearls by Van Cleef and Arpels, called "souffle des nuages" they did not translate the name even on the english description panel, but I would say "clouds blow".
Raw emeralds and star sapphires on cultured pearls raws, and small paraiba-like tourmalines (you know those famous electric blue ones) set in white gold (can be platin as well, not mentioned), on the body of snakes, the clip is detachable, ah versatile jewelry ...
Cartier and Van Cleef have been very fond of transforming jewels for decades (so do I , sorry:) )

It seems that pictures are automaticalled redimensioned whatever the size I saved

And matched earrings, I have not seen any photo of this set on the web so far, though there are plenty available ; so PG is the only place to see them, Enjoy!
The necklace is definitely a masterpiece, but the earrings could be worn easily :), well more or less
The pearls are perfectly matched, no mention if freshwater or akoya or SS, were about 9 mm. The emeralds raw crystals work well with the pearls.
So what's your opinion over there?

Remember I will post crescendo, the most extraordinary for the end; stay tuned ... :)

..."souffle des nuages" they did not translate the name even on the english description panel, but I would say "clouds blow"....

Beautiful and very interresting, thanks for the pics.
Would have called it "breath of clouds" "murmur of clouds" or "Zephyr" as it as well literally means gentle breeze... But maybe this is too romantic.

Are the pearls posted on thread#13 really 9mm?

Always beware of my english :)
always beware of my guess of sizes, there were so many to see, just a guess, looking at photos :p:p

Okay, I know I've said I wear pearls in the garden and to the supermarket - but maybe not that piece...

Thank you for taking the time and effort, Anne. It is truly a treat!

- Karin

Thank you Karin. I confess that when I saw the pearls, I immediately thought of PG, thank you all for being so kind since the first day.

More to come, I will post crescendo, the most extraordinary for the end; stay tuned ...
