I’ve been following Margot McKinney for a while, and I’ve always loved her huge baroque south sea strands, they’re a wonder! Most of her designs are very elaborate and sits more in the “high jewellery” realm. Definitely not my style but I still appreciate the intricate work and she’s so good at composing pearls and stones together.

But today she shared this video and I couldn’t help but be absolutely mesmerised by this necklace that has taken her eight year to assemble together.

Quite unlike her usual stock, these are perfectly round south sea pearls and of a whopping size! 15mm - 17.5mm.

What a sight! But on top of that, it’s not exactly a chocker… she’s assembled a rather long strand. Wow.

If I were her, I’d be keeping that as a “family treasure” too! Haha

Amazing! It is quite a sight. Shame that she doesn’t have a boutique in London, I wish Paspaley did too! They are definitely missing out. The Mikimoto shop in London is actually always busy with Middle Eastern clients, some even buy strands for their pets or long strands to use as belts! Haha Tasaki on the other hand sadly is always empty it seems.
I was just in her boutique last month and asked her about the necklace she was wearing. It's one of the largest baroque strand I'd ever seen.
