Exotics!!!

Hi Everyone: Re: the keshis -- they were advertised as keshis and while I think most are, two are clearly bead nucleated as a couple of them clearly have a very round area around 7-8 mm that can be seen in the pictures. The rest of the pearls do not have that round area. Of course, they are really irregular in shape so anything is possible, but I do think that most are keshis. Either way, it doesn't really matter to me because I think they are cool and unusual!:D

Back to the PP exotics--mine just got here today! I was indecisive, and didn't order right away, but am totally enamored with my purchase--whether the color looks good on me or not!

If there ever were such a thing as a padparadscha (that is a pink-orange sapphire) color pearl, these would have to come close! They do change color. They remind me of the glowing coral sun just before dusk. At some angles, they appear almost translucent!! As you see, I have some smaller pearls with similar color which I've included in the photos.

I didn't have them drilled, but will figure out what to do with them this week!

Sorry for all the reflection--I took these outside the lightbox-------THANK YOU, Jeremy!

Am thinking rose-gold for these?

Yes! If you can get it. Do you know where to look?

I think you're spot on about the padparadscha color! What a perfect description. Lucky you. And it does compliment your skin tone. I can hardly wait to see what you do with them!

Patty, the color is amazing!!! Very well chosen, indeed. Ditto about translucent. I just discovered today when I pulled my hair back; and because there was a light source behind me, the earrings became extremely translucent, almost watery.

I KnewI had seen that glowing golden washed colour... Here is a pic of a strange strand I bought ages ago from a ebay supplier in Melbourne. It is graduated, somewhat, colourwise, from one end to the other! From pale washed out pink, getting warmer and more apricot, until it ends in a glorious blaze of coppery/pistachio gold washed, very 'exotic' looking pearls. Begging to be re-strung! Unfortunately, there are a few too many milky, patchy, lustreless pearls, along with the blemishes, for my newly PG trained eye, so I will have to mix it in with some gemmies, or space the good ones out, tin cup style. Oh, 8-10mm, I assume FW.

Purlgurl,

Those are truly lovely! And you have some great pearls to work with in spite of having to sort. I do find "exotics" here and there--sometimes just a few pearls on a strand, or one strand on a hank with many other cousins! Of course, they are never as large or round as the ones Jeremy and team have sourced!

Purlgurl -
Those are quite lovely! What a great array of colors.

I think sorting through pearls and/or spotting the less amazing ones is just the badge of honor which comes from reading on PG and studying for awhile. I don't know about you, but this is the most fun studying I have ever done!

Pattye -

Those are a beautiful color - I agree on the padparadscha comparison. I think these would be great on you!

GORGEOUS!! They look like glowing orbs. Congrats! I think they will be stunning set in rose gold.

They have strands in these exotics now! I just saw a pic someone posted. The lustre is knock-out. I am not sure what I think of all the different colors together, though.

Oh Jeremy, I am quite overwhelmed! Re-confirms my love of freshies.
Nerida, any of these on hand? How glorious would they be for my Brownlow girls. Show stoppers!

The pearls just keep getting better! Nothing like that in the first batch of freshies. Those, in white, would certainly compare favorably with hanadamas and fool most people as to what they are.

As for those colors, there is nothing on earth as beautiful. The Pinnacle of Pearls!!

This is my "exotic" strand. Although, my photography does not do the pearls justice, they are really quite metallic and range in size from 9.7mm - 10.5mm.

Ah purlgurl, I have just posted you a pack of all sorts of gorgeous things for the Brownlow girls... our US/UK friends are probably wondering what on eart we are talking about!!
I sent some magnificent freshies,... bead nuked but amazing.

Jeremy. those strands are magnificent, just amazing.

I feel like I'm 3 years old again, waiting for my package of treasures to arrive.
Perhaps I should explain: the Brownlow Medal is a red carpet event just for Football mad Melbourne, though it will be televised nationally, and appear in the press. It is an award for the fairest & best footballer, and in the days leading up to it, the WAGS (Wives & Girlfriends) are pictured as they rush between the fake tanner's and the hair extensions and the teeth whitening appointments. (Sound familiar? I think they are everywhere, just different codes of sport.)
The agent of a few of the Team Captains called to ask if I would bejewel their WAGS! I see it as a huge honour, but realistically, there is minimal chance that in the time allotted to each girl for her interview, she might be able to remember to say..."my dress is by xxx, and the jewels came from Sublime" .
My aim is to bring some class to the event, and to raise public awareness of Pearls, so we all benefit. I may be able to get a few photos of these glamour girls in their jewels, & I'm currently selling tickets to my sofa with good views of the girls as they try on the jewels. ha ha.
I realise its 'small bikkies' compared to Jeremy's A listers, but Aussie Rules Football is like a religion here.
Updates to follow..

How beautiful! Well Purlgurl what a great idea for making pearls well-known among footboll lovers! Hope You can get enough to "dress up" at least some of the WAGS.
