Thought I would share these... a small sampling of the 15mm parcel of carved pearls we got this week! The drop pearl on the bottom right measures 15.7x19.1mm!!! Hours of pearly fun around here... sorting drilling and plotting!

How durable are these amazing carved pearls? Do layers of nacre not chip and flake off - I'm wondering because of those little circles of nacre lifting off one sometimes gets right at the drill hole when drilling

Usually I do not like carved and faceted pearls at all, but seeing them as a necklace got me interested. I wonder too how the necklace looks from the distance.

Wow... His shop is beautiful! Yes he is probably the best carver I have known! I met he and his wife on Rarotonga, very sweet people. At that time, their shop was one room in front of his house. I still kick myself for selling the pearls I got from him! Thanks for posting some of his work and the link to his site. I am very happy to see him getting the recognition he deserves!
