I have three more sets of pearl necklaces I would love help identifying... first necklace has a 10k white gold clasp, the second one has an 835 sterling metal clasp and the last one has an unmarked gold tone clasp with a pearl in the center. Any guidance would be awesome! :)

I will try and attach photos according to above order.

OK the pictures did not post in order so hopefully this helps:

1st on left clasp with pearl is the unmarked one throughout the photos in different order.
2nd to right of this is the 835 metal markings clasp with a round silver clasp
The 7th picture is with the white gold filigree and it is the only double strand necklace I have.

Thanks and I am really enjoying all the posts and gorgeous pearls posted... looking forward to learning so much more about the beautiful gems!

Try taking some close-ups on a white paper towel in indirect sunlight. (stand with a well-lit window behind you) The 10k clasp looks like it has a real pearl in it and the double strand looks real. It's too hard to see to tell with the others. They are so uniform as to appear artificial. Good luck with more photos. :)

Hi there GemGeek,

Thank you for the feedback. I took some more photos and will either edit my current post as the pictures did not post in order which I had selected. The double strand is the 10K, the single strand with the silver clasp and pearl is the 835 sterling metal and the goldtone is the unmarked clasp. I will post the new pictures here shortly and if they did not come out so great I will take more tomorrow. I love my double strand necklace it is my favorite! The other two are also nice and weighty on the collar bone. The 4th one in the new pictures I believe is freshwater baroque??? Not sure.

Thanks again,

RJene

Hi GemGeek,

I took more photos (to include the other necklace I have in a separate thread), though I will need to take a new set of them tomorrow when the sun is not setting as these turned out a bit blurred. Any recommendation would be great!

Rachel :)

Much better. I'm looking for sharp close-ups. Do you have a macro setting on your camera (little flower)? I hope this isn't too frustrating. Perhaps try again tomorrow when the light is better. They look promising. :)

I do have a macro setting and will use it tomorrow. I will take better pictures tomorrow when the sun is shining brighter. Not frustrating in the least bit... fun :). I have another 3 strand pearl necklace (I am going to change my profile pic to one where I am wearing it), though am going extremely batty as I have not yet found it ... ugh!!!

Patience me lady, she speaks to herself :)

Hi RJene,

First thing's first :) Have you tried to rub two pearls gently together? If it feels gritty it's real pearls and not fake. There is not much reason to spend time photographing those that don't pass the 'tooth test' :)

What you call fresh water barogue i. The case is loving known as rice crispies. They were the first frshwater pearls out of China, 1980'ies. They have no monetary value but can befun, pretty and informal.

Hi GemGeek,

I took some more photos for you today and I believe removed the other ones. Let me know if you think these are any better. Is there another way other than rubbing them against teeth or each other to test them???

Thanks again,

Rachel

Either borrow a tripod, or try taking a photo by using the timer, holding perfectly still and holding your breath when it goes off. :)

GemGeek,

Will do! Tomorrow for sure  I had it on the tripod but since I generally shoot free hand I had a difficult time using it so went back to holding in hand... think I will try using the timer... too dark now  Smile
