Japan Pearl Tour and the 7th Japan Pearl Fair hosted by the Japan Pearl Exporters Association

I’m so glad you posted those pics, Newberry. They are two of my favorite pieces in your collection!:giggle:

What an amazing adventure @jeg!!!! Thank you for taking us along! So much passion and dedication is behind the beautiful pearls we have the pleasure to see and wear. It must have been a dream to see it all and meet the wonderful pearl people, oh and let’s not forget all the incredible beauties you saw during the fair as well!!! And if I put all the fantastic food into the mix as well your trip is as good as it gets on so many levels;-)

Here are my answers to your questions:

1. I own a classic 7-7,5mm pinked akoya strand ( Hanadama quality from Takahashi) and a couple of baroque necklaces white and silver blue in different sizes. And special colored akoyas and keshis as well;-) I do LOVE the akoyas.

2. What attracts me to akoyas is the luster and orient, I just cant get over how luminous the akoyas are and I am especially mesmerized by the “aurora” effect on baroque silvers. The only thing that would discourage me from buying akoyas is the price of hight grade pearls.

3. I would love to own a Madama strand sometime in the future…and some more larger baroque silver blue strands…and multi keshi strands as well…yes akoyas definitely feature on my wish list;-)

Thanks for all your answers, everyone! I like hearing about your wish lists:giggle:

I’m attaching a little map that was handed out at the Japan Pearl Fair. It’s a map of pearl shops in Kobe, if anyone might be heading to Kobe…
