A Winning Trip to Bali

Late last year Jeremy Shepherd of Pearl Paradise held a drawing to send a lucky person to Bali, Indonesia to visit a pearl farm. The winner had to be a member of Pearl-Guide and to have completed the Pearls as One on-line course. Atlas Pearls and Perfumes sponsored the winner for five days in Bali.

I was the lucky winner of the drawing. I am Pearl-Guide member Red. I decided to take along my husband Dan as my travelling companion. We recently completed our trip to Bali and the visit to the Atlas Pearl Farm in North Bali. Atlas escorted us to North Bali and put us up at the amazing Matahari Beach Resort & Spa in Pemuteran, Bali. Many thanks to Lexi Drygan of Atlas Pearls who worked with us on our trip arrangements. Her suggestions, as well as those of Maryse LaRocque, Atlas Marketing, were consistently on point.

We met up with Lulu Ermila, representing Atlas Pearls, at the Sudamala Sanur Hotel the morning after our arrival. Our bags are being loaded into the car for the drive to North Bali. I am beyond excited.

During our drive to North Bali, we stopped to see some lakes in the mountains of Bali.

Atlas also arranged for us to tour the vineyards of Hatten Wines, and for a wine-tasting.

We spent three nights at the incredible Matahari Beach Resort & Spa in Pemuteran, Bali.

Our visit to the Atlas Pearl Farm included a boat ride out to see the workers on the farm. This was very special, and for me, was the highlight of our trip.

My husband has an interest in cooking, so we followed a suggestion from Atlas and signed up for a cooking class at the Matahari. The class was taught by the hotel’s chief chef and was held in their open air beach kitchen. Not only did it help me to understand Balinese food during our trip, but since our return my husband has already cooked three Balinese dishes.

We scheduled a visit to the famous Matahari Spa for a relaxing massage. This stunning facility was just steps from our hotel bungalow.

We visited several of Bali’s many temples.

On the drive back to south Bali, we stopped to hike to a hidden waterfall. This double waterfall is unusual in that there are two separate rivers that join together at these falls.

This was truly a trip of a lifetime, thanks to Pearl Paradise and Atlas Pearls and Perfumes. More pictures can be found on my Pearl-Guide thread, “My Visit to Atlas Pearl Farm”.
