For those of you who have inquired about my new avatar:D

Fred2.jpg

He is made in 18ct yellow gold, Aussie Sapphire eyes, the pearl is a south sea keshi pearl.

My son named him Fred when he was seven and he just turned twenty one last Friday.
he looks pretty good on black.

Hi Bernadette,
Fred is a seriously cool spider  far more handsome than any of the huntsmen who come into my house!!
I love that your son gave him a name :) Congratulations to your son on his 21st birthday and best wishes to you all on this happy occasion.

Definitely my sort of spider, Bernadette!
Congrats to your boy on his 21st - still a bit of a milestone, isn't it? My younger son was 21 last month and stayed in China rather than coming home just yet.... bit sad!

Congratulations on the 21st birthday to your son. I really love Fred--goes to show that spiders can be beautiful and elegant too!

To Kerry and Nerida, best wishes on your sons' twenty-first birthday!

I love Fred, actually I love spiders because they keep my house free of mosquitos.....

I wonder if Louise Bourgeois gave her spider a name :)

I love Fred!!! And of course, precious jeweled spiders should have names. I have Vladimir, Charlotte, Penelope, and Maximillian...

Fred is awesome! He's quite elegant and timeless. Let's hear it for spiders. ;)

For someone who is terrified of spiders, I think Fred is kinda cute!! ;)

Its my son's 21st next week. He is the guy to call at his work for getting rid of spiders, the others are all scared.
He has neglected to name any of my jewellery, but wishes he could have some 'name' jewellery of his own. His current favorite is an Ikepod watch, which he found in The Robb Report, a magazine about luxury. I wonder who brought him up to have such good (expensive) taste?

I am really taken by unusual pearl jewelry and this is really, really special. I adore Fred!

Hi Nerida, wow three Aussie p-g'ers with sons turning 21 in the space of two months!!! Congratulations to your son on his special birthday :) Yes I think it's still a milestone birthday. The big 18th birthday parties took over for a while but the 21st seems to be back as a more family-oriented celebration.

I feel a bit sad too that your boy was away from home on his birthday. Mmmm I wonder how he got the travel bug? ;) Never mind though because when he does come home you can have the party to end all parties!!! :D

Does Fred get worn to work or events?

Fred has been in hiding for a few years as I am now working from home.
In the last few months though I have been wearing him more and more and even have put Eric with him!

Rock and roll 1989!

Blaire and Barbie,
Tiocfaidh ?r L? (our day will come) one day I will get to the Gathering
and Fred and Octavia will meet;)

Oh Spidey jewelry, how I love thee! I had an adorable spider once that I kept on a rainbow colored scarf that I miss terribly. Love the Aussie Sapphires, btw- very nice color.

Fred is great. Love that spider jewelry!

In the summer, I often let a wolf spider or two inside to to spin a web in my kitchen windows. They make an almost felt-like funnel rather than a classic web. Their webs catch more flies than those flypaper strips do- and the flies in the wolf spider's tube get recycled. I just have to throw the strips away, taking away food from the spiders. I might add that I live in a semi-rural Arizona neighborhood and horses, cattle, geese one pig, a mule, chickens all live within 5 acres or so of me. There are a lot of flies. I promote diatomaceous earth, but have not yet been heard.

Wolf spiders are shy and gentle with beards that make them look friendly, kinda like Fred does.
