SSEF puts out a remarkable magazine every year and I just took the time to go through the latest issue. There are quite a number of interesting pearl-related articles in this year's edition from several months ago covering treatments to gold South Sea pearls, fake Tridacna pearls, carbon dating of pearls and more.

Wow, there's a lot of information in that link. I kept scrolling and scrolling. Thank you for posting that, Jeremy. That's going to keep me busy for hours.

Thanks for the link, Jeremy. (The "Sleeping Lion Pearl" to me looks more like a bleached petrified head louse…)

Just finished reading the last of it. Lots of stuff I don't understand and new, but it was fascinating and interesting. Thank you for sharing!

WOW a whole bunch of interesting articles there. SSEF is highly regarded, right?

Oh yes! SSEF is to Europe what GIA is to the US and this is the lab that certifies nearly all natural pearls.

One of the top pearl experts in the world is with SSEF - Laurent Cartier. You've probably seen his Sustainable Pearls site, http://www.sustainablepearls.org.
