Hello all,
My wife recently received a strand of Mikimoto pearls from her aunt. The aunt had received them as a gift from her husband sometime during the Korean war so in the 50's. She would like to sell the pearls as she feels they are "not her" but has no idea of their value. I too have no idea of their value either but have always thought that Mikimoto pearls are considered to be high quality. Any help valuing the pearls would be greatly appreciated and hopefully in the interim she can be convinced to keep them if only as an heirloom to pass to one of our daughters. The strand is 16 inches not including the clasp. I have attached several pictures and thank you all in advance for your help.
Richard

That would be a lovely heirloom to be able to pass along! Is there paperwork to go with the pearls?

I count about 69 pearls. The necklace seems to graduate with the center pearls being around 5.5mm. This is quite a petite necklace. I can't tell from the small photos how worn they are.

Mikimoto pearls hold their value on resale better than no-name pearls. To get an idea of what people are paying these days for a similar necklace, we recommend to people to look at similar SOLD items on eBay and Ruby Lane.

Here's eBay:

And here is the page that has similar sold items on Ruby Lane:
