OMG, these BBAs just arrived. Blue baroque akoyas from a PP Live event a month ago. They're huge and intensely blue. I've never seen akoyas this big or this intensely blue. The hammered surface effect means the pearl nacre is very thick. The necklace pearls range from 10 to 13.7 mm, and the earrings are 10-11 mm. I thought the earrings would be drilled on the large flat side, but they're drilled a bit wonky and it really suits them, because they are so erotochromatic! I asked for extra-large earring backs so they will stay up on my earlobes and not droop.
The necklace is strung very tight. I hope it loosens up. I think it's 18" and I was hoping for 19" so it would nest with my 9mm BBAs. I think it will loosen up with wear.
Feeling the blues. ALL the BBAs. Necklaces and earrings from PP and Pearls of Joy. 2 pearl BBA ring from Takahashi from my trip to Japan pearl farms. Teal blue pearl ring is a Sea of Cortez pearl bought from Douglas at the last Ruckus and set by PP in a rose gold Frost setting.
Thanks Pattye! That sprang sweater is a bit short in the front, but it looks like lapels, so I'm pretending it was meant to look like that. The new sprang sweater is almost finished.
Visiting Dad today. While blue is my favorite pearl color, I have dipped my toe into yellow. Ringed golden South Sea pearl tin-cup with white and golden SS keshi dangles from a PP Live event. Large, white, metallic, baroque, freshwater pearl drops from Pearls of Joy, worn on my Mom's diamond hoop earrings.
