How Do You Store Your Pearls? Show Us!

I’ve completely re-done my storage and now keep all my pearls in cotton muslin bags with iron-on labels. I’m adding pics of some great little pouches I got to use for traveling. CathyKeshi’s sister is a quilter, and made these fantastic zipped pouches. I love the detail- notice the seashell fabric has little waves by the zipper on the smaller pouch, and the flower fabric has little bees by the zipper! The pearl strands are both Kamoka.

Ha ... we must have BEES ... my sister's son and his wife own a beekeeping/honey business :) I keep nearly all my pearl strands in those quilted pouches. In the beginning, it was easy, I color coded the pearls to the colors of the fabrics. After a while and a few years of pearl addiction, I got tired of opening all those pouches, so I recently bought little tiny 1" note cards, tied them to the zipper pulls so I can write what's inside on the cards LOL. Sue (sister) was using white zippers and plain stitching until I persuaded her to up her embellishment game, which she did admirably!

these are so cute!!!

I love to look and play with my pearls. Does anyone just display them in a pull out drawer in their closet? I have an Ikea closet system with the jewelry display drawer. It has a glass top so I can see what's in there. Should I be storing them differently?

As promised, here are photos my storage system. Most pearls are stored in those simple flat pearl folders, marked with what's inside (Avery File Printer/Label printed on Clear/Black Avery File Label Tape). The pearl folders were the best price at nilecorp.com and they come in white/black/pink/gray. My cheaper or mixed bead necklaces are in the pink or gray folders. When there are matching earrings an/or an enhancer for a strand, I store those in little white cotton pouches that I make/sew out of 2" twill tape (earrings have a divider seam-see photo). That way the pearls won't get scratched and can be stored with their corresponding necklace.
My more expensive strands are stored in those lovely blue velvet center open display boxes (room for the larger South Sea pearls and more protected). Obviously don't need as many of those storage boxes. Found the best price on the blue velvet boxes on Amazon.View attachment 463361View attachment 463355View attachment 463362View attachment 463360View attachment 463358
@MotherOfPearlTrumpet This storage system is a thing of absolute beauty. Respect. Props. Claps.

My storage system is simple, since I don't really have any jewelry
But I do have all my pearls (mainly naturals) stored in plastic bags, all separated by species and family groups, with larger pearls measured and weighed individually. I can find any pearl in a jiffy!

I would be happy to do a show & tell for sure!
Raiding, looting and pillaging afterwards.
LOL

I LOVE seashells...they make fantastic displays.
And having them around that grampa clock...nice touch!

Shells were a wedding gift of an elderly friend, clock( still chimes every quarter!) husbands great grandfathers, made in 1830.It’s been ticking through history ever since!.This months pearls are mostly the big early mistakes, but even they deserve their 15 minutes of fame!

barbaradilek, that's a lovely display! I have one of my grandfather's mantle clocks in my living room now, one of 3 in line of sight. Will soon be bringing one of the grandfather's clocks he built home as well; it has a German set of works with 3 different sets of chimes in. He was a carpenter by trade, and a clockmaker/fixer by hobby. I inherited his love of a good clock chime in the background :) What a delightful idea to combine your clock, shells and pearls; love it.
