Pearls from Lalique collection

Hello all! I purchased the pearls pictured in a sale of items from the collection of Marie-Claude Lalique. I bought them for both the historical nature and with the hope of using the two baroques for earrings for my wife. My question here is what is the "half" pearl in the picture? I believe it to be an early bead nucleated cultured,

but could you confirm for me? I also would like to know if there is any damage/degeneration to the pearl that would preclude mounting in some sort of setting?

The pearl on the left side is the half-pearl...actually a Mabé Pearl. Looks fine to me
