Gem grade freshwater sellers in Australia?

How sweet Lisa! Thanks!
Being from India, we anyway grow up learning at least 3 languages, Hindi (the national language), English (because that's the accepted business language) and our state/province language, which in my case happens to be Punjabi. Then when we move countries, we pick up others. So I know Urdu (from India as well), Bahasa (from when I lived in Indonesia) and Mandarin Chinese (from my years in China) Am still learning. My kids though are thoroughly international school kids. They speak Chinese, Spanish, English of course, Hindi, Punjabi among the 2 of them. They have friends belonging to all over the world, as have their parents....and we are soooo grateful to have that privelege, that we feel almost humbled by it all..:)

Pearl purchase

Pearl purchase

Sterling Clasp

Katbran, as requested, here is a photo of the pearls I purchased online last week from Catherine. She was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with so thank you all for the recommendations.

I ended up selecting this necklace in very pale pastels with matching earrings. In some lights the pearls look almost white, in others you can see different colours. Pattye, you were right - there are many wonderful pearls that aren't gem quality. And now I have a better idea of what I like.

So... I wore these out for dinner the night they arrived in the mail and my partner repeatedly commented on how they "seemed to be glowing" - how good is that?

Mmmm, I'm already thinking of a second purchase in the near future. But what to get next??? :D

Ah, Wejay, we hijacked your thread and talked about other stuff instead of pearls. So glad to see these and don't they look lovely on you! Congrats on your newest purchase and I'm sure if you hang around PG you'd soon be racking up the purchases. And with each new one, you'd think, "They can't get more beautiful than that!" and low and behold, they always do!

Lovely! And what to get next? Yep and uh-oh...hooked.

Hi Wejay!
Those pearls do have a special glow! It is always nice to see somethings of Catherine's featured here! I'll love to hear what you decide to get next!

Hi Wejay,

I'm glad you posted a neck shot or I would have been convinced that the glow from the pearl was due to picture enhancement! :)

Wejay - you look gorgeous in your pearls! Absolutely beautiful, and very well chosen. Thank you too for posting the neck shot - you have probably got the idea that that is what we always want to see! Hope to see you around here some more..

For everyone's reference - these days Pearl Perfection is wholesale only - selling finished jewellery to trade. I do very little in the way of private orders etc.., but thank you so much for those who mentioned me in the earlier posts.

The side discussion on this thread has had me laughing, too!

Wejay, thanks very much for posting the photos! Catherine is a really nice person and a joy to deal with .. very accommodating. I have purchased several things, returned some and had her rebuild others by adding strands. You cannot go wrong...if you're not happy just send em back and she'll find something else for you. And like you I was very pleasantly surprised to find that pearls didn't have to be AAA to be gorgeous! So pleased you found something! They look wonderful!

Thanks for the lovely comments - you are too kind :)

Nerida, I did check out your site but as you mention, it wasn't for consumers and I've checked our Amrita's selection of jewellery and loose pearls. Do like those big South Sea pearls...

Yes, I have read many times that everyone likes to see neck shots - me too. So I guess I'm just paying it forward - or is that back?

Anyway, I checked out the link to members' collections of pearls. Beautiful photos there! Should be more of it.

Wow, Nerida, congratulations on your success. Pearl Perfection has really grown, hasn't it? Stories like yours are so inspiring. I used to think the jewellery Down Under was a little dated , well at least those pitched at the average salaryman, with all the gold and baubles. You must be shaking up the business with your pearls :)

The idiom "jin zhu zhe chi jin mo zhe hei,*" holds true for me whichever country I'm in.

* Literal translation: Turning crimson when one touches crimson ink and turning black when you are near black ink.

Similar proverb in English, too - When in Rome, do as the Romans Do
