Wow! So now when we see pistachio pearls, it is possible they were color treated.

Another reason to buy from reliable vendors.
 
Interesting article, as long as the treatment is stable...I wonder if treatments are applied to other Tahitians pearls to obtain other desirable colours and overtones.
 
In the article it does say that most Tahitians are only rinsed and "lightly tumbled" before entering the market. I don't have an issue with treatments, as long as they are properly disclosed. Great article, and really quite informative on the processing of these pearls!
