Coco Chanel's Pearls

And what about the french expression "petite" used for a nice small one?
what's your feeling about it?
The English language is sprinkled with many languages and I believe it is the better for it. Petite has a more descriptive sound than small. So does faux and so do many others. We live in a world or many languages and cultures and many of these have been influenced since antiquity with words from other languages and enriched because of it.

Go with the flow. We have been for many, many hundreds of years if not thousands. Want to stop it now? WHY!!!!

Yes, this word is widely used here in the US without even thinking about its French origin and with the same definition you have given.

French words and spellings are often used in names of stores or restaurants to convey a feeling of elegance, sophistication and quality.

Examples: Le Visage, a hair salon; Fleur de Lis Enterprises, window cleaning; La Petite Boulangerie, a cafe/bakery; Petite Provence Boulangerie and Patisserie, just to name a few.
