Do the clasp pieces pinch open? I've seen adjustable clasps that appear similar, it pinches and you can clasp it over a pearl.
But my first thought was that there's a piece missing. Where did you find these?
I think they clasp over the pearls as shown. This would make them adjustable. If only using one and tying off the end of the strand, it could also be used as a lariat I believe.
These pearls look like they could be natural color.
Rene' Newman shows this clasp in her Pearl books. It's infinitely adjustable, because you can clasp it over any pearl in the necklace, or leave it hang like an end bead.
There is a hinge on one side. I'd get my loupe and examine the other side to see what the release mechanism is. There may be a bar one has to push down. I'm curious, too! Gorgeous pearls! I have clasps similar with basic safety locks.

Pattye, can you please post a photo of how they work... specifically how they look when you leave the strand long?
On these I am trying to decide how many vintage blue grey akoyas does one girl need???? My heart says ALL of them....while my brain says: "you have enough!" My heart says" I don't have one with interesting adjustable clasps"... wonder who's gonna win???
