Pretty pearls and looks, PearlyLibrarian, BWeaves, Mary-Contrary and oysterow183!

So, I had a couple thoughts for you, PearlyLibrarian… I can’t remember if you do your own wire-wrapping and stringing, but I pulled up a couple examples of both. I went with delicate pieces since your looks seem to tend towards delicate pieces?

The first one is a long strand of tiny blue Akoya from Kojima. I think these keshi are smaller than yours, but the idea would still work. This strand is very long. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but maybe 40”. If I wear it long, I use a knot and a pendant. I’ve also doubled and tripled it around the neck. It’s also a perfect length for me to wrap several times as a bracelet.

My other thought was my go-to pieces. I turn just about all my tiny keshi into station chains. They work so well on their own, layered, or for pendant chains. You could make necklaces to match the bracelets from your last post.

Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with your keshi! I could go on, but you’d need to steer me towards what you are thinking…

Thanks so much, Pomelo! Hmmm, not really sure how to describe some of the colors. I guess some of them can resemble Tahitian colors but with more of a soap bubbly effect and lots of luster. It’s amazing the range of natural colors of Akoya pearls. We just never get to see them at market. The necklace has the biggest range of colors, but I pulled up some older pics of bracelets I also was able to make with these pearls.

Oh my, I haven’t felt the itch to buy new pearls in a long time but you may have just unlocked a new wishlist item…!

These are beautiful, and I bet they’re even better in the flesh!!

Out of interest, have you ever strung highly saturated akoya together with light coloured Tahitians? I’m wondering because then there’ll be a combination of colours and sizes

@jeg wow these are great ideas! I haven’t done any wire wrapping, but I bought supplies for stringing with aspirations of teaching myself. I do love that style of clasp on your long strand as well. It would be about ~48 inches strung together so maybe that’s a good direction! I don’t know if I’m ambitious enough for wire wrapping at the moment!

I know it's October, but the weather just got nice enough in Florida to open the windows. White linen and blue pearls. Natural color akoya pearls, both the blue and the white ones. Blue baroque akoya pendant and blue akoya pearl rope with teeny tiny white keshi pearls from Takahashi Pearls. Natural white Hanadama rope from Pearl Paradise. Souffle' earrings with teeny tiny pearls and reclaimed topaz from little h at Pearl Paradise.

Aloha! I'm a jewelry designer in Hawaii and do craft fairs and have 2 online stores. I love to combine baroque Tahitian, Edison, Keshi pearls, etc. with shell and other materials.I also use blue and pink Akoya pearls to make earrings. I'm making the leap to wholesale next year and going into stores in Hawaii in 2026. Very excited and nervous about making this move! Mika@Leahigifts.com, Leahigifts.etsy.com and #Leahigifts

Thank you, Pomelo! I’ve kept all the Akoyas together and haven’t mixed them with anything. I haven’t had them next to any of my light T’s to see what the contrast would be like, but I’ll pull some out and take a look.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with PearlyLibrarian.

Love that pair of little h earrings, BWeaves. I was admiring them when we were at the vault this summer. So many choices…

Your bracelet looks dreamy next to the surf, SurfnSci!

Welcome, Leahi! I love shell and pearl jewelry and Indo-Pacific cone shells are my favorites. My shell and pearl jewelry have become a collection of their own. I recognize your work! I frequently visit Hawaii and have a pair of earrings from an event I attended last year. I can’t remember if it was the Honolulu Festival, or which one it was now. Anyways, I pulled up some pics I posted here since they’ve become a part of my collection-

Visiting Dad today wearing Nana's pearls. Cultured akoya pearl earrings and necklace clasp from the 1950s. I replaced the akoya necklace strand because the nacre was thin and the pearls no longer glowed after 70 years. Nana did not buy the best quality pearls. I replaced the akoya strand with a strand of non-bead nucleated, Freshadama freshwater pearls from Pearl Paradise. 100% pearl nacre, and they match the akoya pearls in the clasp. I liked it so much, I had PP add a second strand. The necklace was originally 16 to 17 inch choker length, but I lengthened it to 18-19 inch princess length because I already had several single strand choker length pearl necklaces from my Mom.

Nana's clasp can handle 3 strands of pearls, and I sometimes wonder if I should have gone with smaller pearls and 3 strands. But I kinda love how the 2 strands look like they're swooping through the clasp in a cross over pattern. Nana always wore her single strand choker with the clasp in front like a pendant, so that was the original way I had PP string the necklace. That left room to add the longer strand on the other side of the clasp.

Happy weekend! Jeg, WOW, do you have a picture of that fabulous bib-like necklace in action? I love those pretty hibiscus earrings, as well.

BWeaves, your re-fashioned necklace is beautiful, especially with the crossover looks and the front clasp. I think you made the perfect choice for two strands!

Kamoka bracelet with purple SoC ring today.

I love seeing everyone’s wonderful pearls! I’ve posted in some other threads but this is my first time posting here, so please be patient with my less than awesome photos! I’m wearing my antique pearl necklaces (I’m pretty sure at least some of them are natural pearls) and my Akoya pearl ring. I love that the two center pearls in the ring are natural silver and pale creamy yellow colors.

I like the 2 strands, BWeaves. It keeps it more versatile. 3 somehow seems more formal to me unless it’s a messy drape. I have some yellow gold earrings that were my mom’s in a similar Y shaped style. Yours’ are a nicer quality, though.

treasurefixation, your layers of pearls look fantastic on you! I like creamy vintage colors.

SurfnSci, your Kamoka bracelet has such beautiful shades of moody blues! I pulled up some pics of the necklace in action for you! I treasure it because it was a gift from Fuji Voll. It is a strand of vintage Biwa pearls he had saved all these years. The second action photo is more realistic as the longer pearls like to randomly flip when wearing it. I think the flipping gives the necklace more movement. Vintage Biwa pearls from Fuji-

Today it’s a thrifted necklace, pearls with crystal beads. I feel like I found a Kojima piece in the wild, thrifted in Tucson. It’s a fun piece, I love it. Not pictured are gold, diamond & Akoya Maui Divers earrings I scored on eBay for the price of the backs. It’s amazing what pearls on the 2nd hand market are going for lately.

Super happy to see you back with us, GemGeek, and a big thank you!!!

Mary-Contrary, what a fun thrifty find! Enjoy wearing that!
