My 25th anniversary pearls. Reborn pearls. These pearls have an amazing soap bubble luster that I cannot capture with my camera.

Reborn pearls occured when Chinese, non-nucleated, freshwater pearls were harvested, and then the mollusk was put back in the water. A new, non-nucleated pearl would grow in the existing pearl sac, but it was never as round-ish (button or potato shaped) as the first pearl grown in that pearl sac. So it's not a keshi. It's a reborn pearl. I don't think the Chinese are making reborn pearls anymore, since they are now bead nucleating their pearls.

Baroque Akoya studs from Takahashi, Fiji keshi from PP that I wire-wrapped into a necklace, and a dangly necklace from Kojima made up of Kasumi, SS, Tahitian and Akoya pearls.

Sooooooo, during the amazing Japan Trip to visit pearl farms, Hisano wore a necklace that she made for herself. It was wire wrapped, and alternated tiny, white, roundish akoya pearls with small, multicolored, oval tourmalines. I confess, I coveted her necklace. When we got back from the trip, I asked Hisano if she could make me something similar. She no longer had the baby akoyas or the oval tourmalines, BUT PP had just gotten a bunch of incredibly golden, South Sea keshi. Ahem, cough, cough, this was weeks before the Keshi Live event, so I got to them first. Hisano couldn't find any oval tourmalines she liked, but she found pear shaped ones, and I think they complement the non-round shapes of the golden keshi.

The necklace just arrived, and it's gorgeous. I love it. 30.5 inches of WOWZA! The tourmalines sparkle like crazy, and the keshi look like 24K gold.

Oh, and I'm wearing my Mom's double pearl akoya earrings from the 1950s and 60s. She wore these every day.

Hisano's necklace next to the golden SS keshi she picked out for my necklace. My keshi look huge next to her pearls, but my keshi are quite small.

Thank you so much for your sharing, today I finally pass by their shop, CMW Pearls which is actually in a building. At first I was hesitant, however the moment I step into the office, I was really pleased by how transparent they were, the store owner is actually from tahiti, he was really patient and took his time to answer all my questions about tahitian Pearls and the pricing especially, I wanted a pearl necklace set that was obviously more expensive, but after all the information he gave to me, I ended up buying something nicer which was at a similar price, by trading a bit on not a full round shape pearls, he even went through the trouble of giving me more options which why I took more times. As I wanted better luster and colors without paying way higher than my initial budget, his customer service was spot on, they are definitely worth a visit. Just note that they can drill your pearls on the spot but stringing required time, so usually you need to pickup on the next working days, thought it might be useful as I was a bit tight in my holidays, but they manage it to do it for me the day after it was ready.

I am extra proud of these studs because I was finally brave enough to drill them myself. I've drilled plenty of freshwater pearls but never anything else because I was not confident enough in my skills. I'm still not brave enough to drill the loose Fijian and SoC pearls from live events though so they will be going to PP soon to be drilled.

The pendants and earrings are Kasumi pearls. I usually wear the pendants on my mother's hoop earrings because they're both on the smaller side and they have similar bails and sizes. I bought the ruby bail first, and the diamond bail second, and that's the only way I can tell them apart.

The large feather pearl pendant from Kojima Pearl, is from Mississippi mollusks. I used to think Mom's earrings were lapis, too, but one cabochon has a faint star, so I believe they are sapphires. Moonstone and sapphire ring.
