The Heart of the Lagoon

And now, what you've all been waiting for.....the octopus tattoo! With tentacle gently carressing a monster Kamoka pearl. (Apologies for the banged-up toe...but it looks much better than it did a month ago!)

we now know which monster pearl your octopus is holding!

Has that week changed anything about how you feel about pearls?

Just reaffirmed and deepened my lust for Tahitian pearls, if that's possible. But not just any Tahitian pearls...

I may be a tad biased, but those Kamoka pearls set a new standard of beauty, with their lovely range of colors.

I seriously doubt I'll find much of interest in the way of Tahitians at the gem shows now...I've become too spoiled by my experience.

Not that I'm complaining! :D

That is a beautiful tattoo! I haven't had very many reasons to pair those two words in my life, but the experience seems worthily commemorated on your skin.

And a peerless Janus-faced pearl for the new year, too!

I only own three Tahitians right now, but knowing the original source, I believe they must be from Kamoka. Compared to other Tahitians I've seen in stores and photos, they truly seem to have a different kind of beauty and depth.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm sure many here hope to follow in your footsteps... toe trauma notwithstanding! :D

I agree, Kamoka's have spoiled me. There is a soft quality to their colors (I think), they are subtle, not screaming in their beauty. The pearls to grow on you the more time you spend with them, and you just find them more and more beautiful. There is also such a variety of colors. Here are the baby cousins of the Lagoon. They came via fellow teacher delivery to complete my last transaction with Josh. I haven't measured them (gotta get a caliper), but that's what the dime pic is for, sorry it was on the day I couldn't focus. I think they're around 13mm give or take. The pics don't show the colors, natch, but they are a lovely glowing champagney, silvery, green overtone color. I think I'm going to keep one as my signature pendant, and then figure out the other one. Must get a drill!! Oh, that's me in the top pic. I lifted the camera so you could see my face! :)

I've been out of touch and missed all the action. I agree with everyone that the love affair between Sheri and "Heart" will go on forever. Wow. That tattoo should be ugly considering how big and black it is, but it's so graceful and stylish. I love the balance and the way it swirls down the front. Congrats on both.

You are unique in all the world. ;)
