Fiji Pearls

lmgarden!!! You're Fiji collection is really incredible!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you paired it up with the various gold watches and bracelets. The chunkiness of the bracelet does not at all overpower the more delicate pearls, but instead adds a beautiful texture to the whole look. I love them!

I'm surprised that they still had enough Fiji pearls left for you to pick out such beautiful combos!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! Purr!! I was playing around with combining other pieces just for fun. I'll probably not be so bold in public!

lm, I have the feeling that whenever you go out, you are very "put together"!!!

Fiji pearls are something special. Very Interesting Why the colors are so bright? Something in the water?

I think the colors come from the shells (the oysters) themselves, Naan, but it seems to be dependent also on the skills of the technician who actually does the nucleation. I read -- I think on Fiji Pearls' blog [Edit: Actually it was posted right here on P-G, see post 91]-- that a technician who could only achieve the typical Tahitian pearl colors had to be let go at one point.

It's been months since I read that...it may take me a bit of time to find it. Will try.
I think it was a blog rather than Facebook page, but not sure.

Well, I found it but it was not a blog-- it was posted right here on P-G. Here is a link to the post:

Note this part in particular:

Our Colours.
I would like to say that all our pearls are chocolate and distinctly Fiji - but the truth is they are not. The technician and selecting mantle tissue is critical. We use three Japanese technicians - each with over 30 years experience. Two have worked for me 15 and 12 years respectively. The 3rd - worked with us for 5 years - and I just had to let him go!!!!! Why - he could not pull the colours - too much Traditional Tahitian and silver. I have tried other technicians - disaster!! Unviable.
I can glance at a bag of harvested pearls during our harvest and know which tech made them!!!

Another nuance to our colours is that every year, every season we see slight difference is overall colours.

Please don't look at website now, new one being launched which will be better and will have something for my special friends. Also a blog when - i get to it.
Love the feedback everyone - thank you, very kind. Lmgarden - thank you for posting those beautiful pictures and starting this post - thank you!!!
I am hassling my wife for pics of pearls - I will keep posting those here.

Technicians in yesterday. Implanting begins today. Unfortunately we lost about 50,000 shells we wanted to implant this year. Hatchery needs rebuild, but we have had two massive sets from temp hatchery. Huge, huge relief.

We start harvest middle of next month. Julie coming down in November.
See Jeremy and Jack Lynch next week in HK, sheep in the big city.
I love visiting the big city.
