There are three major types of waves: 1) screw in the light bulb; 2) figure eight; and 3) fanning the fire. Some also add a fourth, which is cupping the air backwards...but I consider that to be a #1 done incorrectly.

Hahahah! Then there is a 5th category.
The Queen's Wave I'd teach you was taught to me by a Louisiana beauty queen. She was taught it in school!
It goes like this, and you have to say the words when you do it:
Elbow, elbow,
Wrist, wrist,
Touch your pearls,
Blow a kiss!
It's amazing when a group of ladies do it in unison.
P.S. I believe your #4 is what Queen Elizabeth II does.
