Advice regarding pearl purchase..

Well, emailed to see why strand had not shipped yet, and it was because it was already sold but the website wasn't updated when I placed my order! Oh well, just need to keep looking...

Not a very well organised business...not just to have a sold item still on the website but then to take your order and not contact you. Did they take your money?

Luckily this was with us, which means she will be well taken care of, which is what we always try to do when something double-sells.

The order was placed over the weekend and we realized on Monday that it was a double-sold item. Mia started putting together new options in order to reach out to her on Tuesday, but she contacted us on Tuesday before Mia reached out to her and this is Mia's response to her on Tuesday.

Hi xxxxxx,

We apologize for the inconvenience, yes, there is a problem with your order. Unfortunately, the necklace is out of stock and the website was not updated.

I apologize for the delay with contacting you, but I wanted to have some alternatives to present to you when I delivered the news. The great news is that we have 2 new strands that just arrived to our office that are similar to this strand.

We have 2 strands for you to choose from. They both have larger pearls than the one you ordered, same quality of AA+/AAA, same price. The strand you ordered starts at 8.1 and graduates to 11.9 mm, these two new options start at 10.0 and go up to 11.7 mm, so there isn't a sharp graduation.

Option 1: SSN200-XXX: 10.0-11.7 mm
Option 2: SSN200-XXX: 10.0-11.6 mm

I'm having our photographer take a picture of these strands for you now. I will send the photos in the next email.

Also, because of the inconvenience, I will increase the discount on your order from 14% to 20% and waive the shipping charge since the order is delayed. Therefore, the total cost of the strand will be xxxxx.

Mia Mesa

I am only posting all of this because of your comment, Wendy. Mia was quite offended by what your wrote.

I don't plan to leave this post up indefinitely.

Peonyrose, you lucky duck! You are getting a "guilt" strand from Pearl Paradise. It is going to be gorgeous, and certainly will be worth a few more days wait. Larger pearls, bigger discount and free shipping.

If you can post the glamour photos, I would love to see them.

And, double-selling can happen to the best of vendors. One of my favorite bracelets is a lavender Kasumi bracelet from Sarah at Kojima Pearl. She was not able to find the bracelet I ordered, and the one she made for me has the most awesome pearls. So pleased.

Yes, pearl vendor "guilt" strands more than make up for any inconvenience! Post lots of pictures, you lucky lucky double flower!

Yup, everyone's "guilt strands" that I have seen have all been nicer than the original! Sadly, I've never been a recipient. The Pelosi strands look beautiful! Can't wait to see pics!

No, no -- you are misunderstanding the term, which is meant endearingly (and admittedly comes with some feelings of envy)!

When a vendor of high caliber disappoints, they bend over backwards to make it right. The consumer often ends up with an even better piece than the original! I believe I, myself, may have coined the term during the Ruckus when I was admiring an especially nice piece which was made after some small error (I don't remember the details, but someone may pipe up to provide them).

BAS - Yes, that is how I remember it. I think you did coin the phrase, and perhaps it is a bit of an inside joke. I know that I was quite shocked to see Sarah's other Kasumi bracelets in person at the Ruckus, and noticed how much bigger the pearls were in mine. She admitted that yes, she had gone out of her way to pick especially lovely pearls for my bracelet after she could not find the bracelet that I had ordered.

Oooooooooo now there is a nice ' sorry' bag of bonus' !! Well done! Great customer service!

Can't wait to see the photos...Certainly sounds wonderful and I love SS/Tahitian necklaces with the 3 colour mix. I did a rope for my sister in law with those colours and she gets so much wear out of it ... the white and yellows/champagne/whatever look very fresh in the summer and the touches of Greys take it nicely into winter. Very very wearable combination and I know you will get a lot of use and compliments on your new jewels!!!

I agree with Pattye on the use of the term "guilt strand". I cringed each time it was used over on the other forum. It has a negative connotation and the way it has been used does sound like the poster is gloating.

Oh no! Look what happens when I don't check the forum for a day! I was going to write that I had been very much taken care of by PP, and that yes, both a refund OR a replacement strand at an increased discount was offered. I have to admit though, I got a little nervous despite the good reviews here, and also having received an order already, so I opted for a refund. The refund has already been processed. I had wanted to post this before the above conversations started, sorry! I have subsequently ordered a completely different strand. So the pelosistyle strand ( not a big one mind you) will have to wait a while now. But I reckon the 50 inch 8-11 mm Tahitians might console me while I wait for another excuse for that next purchase...this one has been shipped today, so once I work out how to post a pic I 'll put some up when it arrives. I have to say, the reason I didn't freak out totally with the mix-up was all the good stuff about PP on this forum & another forum.

50 inch tahitian rope? You definitely need to post photos and share!
