Hi there! It's really tough cutting the tiny hard knots (powerpro) without scratching the delicate pearls! Can I know what type of scissors do u recommend to use?
I am from Singapore, kindly provide the link to the online stores:)

Hi Caitlin- I remembered that u had introduce a thread clipper. Can u provide the link to the online store that I can purchase from?

Thanks in advance

Thank u pearl dreams! That's a really useful link!

I shall contact them to see if they ship to sinagpore :)

HI! I love those clippers/snippers and you can probably get them on Ebay, maybe even from "nearby" like China.

The exacto knife sounds like a great idea! Some blades cut Powerpro, some don't, but if the exacto blade does, it sounds like a perfect solution for cutting between pearls!

Thanks. I want to try that!

Before you go buy one let me retest it on PowerPro, Caitlin....

*goes downstairs, back soon*

Okay I'm back. I have several knives that are basically like X-Acto I (i.e. a replaceable blade in a handle) but not that brand specifically-- one is Hyde and the other is a no-name brand-- a plastic handle that holds break-away blades. Both work fine on PowerPro.

Hi there thanks for the reply. How about Lightweight, handy THREAD CLIPPERS from Beadsmith?can it cut powerpro hard knots:)?it selling at usd5 each. Do u think all thread clippers in the similar shape as caitlin's recommendation work? Or is it safer to buy the EXACT one from caitlin's link? Tks!

Those sound fine. they have little tiny tips that should clip the knots without touching the pearls.

I am a scavenger. I use anything that works. I am only brand specific about the power pro because no one else makes the equivalent- at least that I know of. I will try any thread or clippers that come along and judge it on its merits. I like the idea of the exacto for cutting knots because it is a single blade and thus less likely to touch-let alone mark up the pearls. Maybe even a box cutter.......with a new blade, could work.

I used to be the only beader craftsman here. Now, for years, there have been many people more professional than I, making suggestions, but its been awhile since we got a new one. The exacto sounds great. Now, I should go back and add it to some of those beginning instructions on beading and knotting so newbies won't have to read it all up to here, to get that great idea.

Buy one of these break-off cutters in a dollar store and some specific brand of fishing line and you are ready to redo do the finest pearls in the world. Tee Hee.

Thank u all for the advises! I just wanna share, the thread clipper Caitlin recommended is FANTASTIC!:) Now I can string, restring, string, restring... easily.
