Place of origin - Indonesia. Found 10 years ago with low tide ... Sorry, not so good pics.

They look like nucleuses (nuclei?) ..the beads used to start off pearls.

Meredith, do you mean you found the objects loose in the water? Laying in the sand?

Could they be melos? Sure would be nice to get more details!

Wendy may be right. Farmed oysters expel beads on a regular basis and they could be rolling in with the surf. Very interesting photos. There looks like some banding, which would indicate shell origin. If Meredith tries polishing them, she might see Mother of Pearl.

Yes, they are beads. Probably cooked in the curcuma. Really interesting!
