What would you pair blue akoyas with?

Hi everyone. I recently came purchased a strand of 5-6 mm blue akoyas. They are from Vietnam and lean more toward blue than silver and in my opinion, the blue color is pretty intense. I will do my best to post some accurate pictures very soon!

The strand is gorgeous and I really love the pearls but I will admit that the pearls are a little smaller than what I usually wear. I do enjoy layering necklaces and other types of jewelry but do worry about pearl pieces rubbing against one another, I'm not sure if this is something I should worry about though.

I was thinking that I could have the pearls restrung with other pearls and/or gemstone beads to make the necklace longer and more visually impactful. If I do decide to go this route, does anyone have any suggestions (or pictures!) for colors or types of pearls and gemstones that might look nice with the blue color of the akoyas?

Not long ago I restrung my baroque blue akoyas on beading wire with small faceted rhodolite garnets.

Pearl Dreams, that’s a gorgeous necklace! Any pictures of it on?

I have paired them with high quality rainbow moonstone. It really makes the blue akoyas pop. Have fun!

My Everything Bagel necklace from Kojima has small blue, gold and pistachio akoyas mixed with white and gold South Sea pearls, pink and purple Kasumi pearls and Tahitian keshi or all colors. Blue akoyas go with everything. They look great with all gemstones, too.

I've mixed my strong blue akoyas with 22kt gold beads - the deep gold color really makes the blue pop! There's gold filled or vermeil gold beads out there for a more frugal option. I also think going opposite on the color wheel as PD did works really well in general for gemstone selection.

Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! It seems like I will have a lot of thinking to do about what to pair with the pearls and it might be fun to add other types of pearls and gemstone beads to the strand. Does anyone have suggestions for their favorite places to look for high quality gemstone beads and metal beads? As promised, here is a quick photo of the pearls. I think the photo is a fairly accurate representation of the pearls but they are definitely bluer in real life and far more lustrous.

Hi tahitiangirl here are a few blue akoya pearls pairing ideas I'm having right now, hope it helps. I am personally struggling to decide between tahitian, edison and the quartz.20180624_112721.jpg20180624_113731.jpg20180624_113647.jpg20180624_113458.jpg20180624_113226.jpg20180624_113008.jpg

I love the idea of blues with gold and greens.
Hello, everybody! I’ve been crazy busy with work since the holidays, and haven’t had time to view or post. I miss you all! The only time I have time to play with pearl creations is late at night - this Vietnamese akoya combo has waited patiently for months to be completed. It’s a combo of a Vietnamese akoya from PP, chrysoberyl beads and a 14k gold Italian necklace I found at Tjmax. The colors remind me of the sea, sand, clouds and fresh spring grass.
