About 3 years ago...I knew so little about pearls. I came here and asked so many question. I was trying to figure out pearls. I found such kind and helpful people! (The Pearls as One course was super helpful!). I looked at tons of eBay photos and got used real pearls. I am not an expert by any means. But I think of 1 of my first questions "does the clasp tell the quality of the pearl." I learned very quickly from this group that the clasp has little the do with the pearl quality for various reasons...cost of gold, time in history, restrung to make it easy to wear and all sorts of reasons. So as I was looking for more used pearls...I came across continuous strands and could ID them! I got 2 blue akoya baroque strands, 1 creamy barque strand and one dainty akoya round strand. None have clasps so all were around $10 I will see if I can get photos. BUT I own a BIG THANK YOU TO EVERY ONE FOR TEACHING & SHOWING great pearls so I can pick up lovely pearls & give them a new life!!!
