What do you think of this new peice?

I'm not impressed by the unimaginative triangle bail. But maybe that truly was the best choice, though. I do love the pearl. Pearly the Snowman.

It looks like the designer was Ms. Nature, mostly. And the human involved turned the unusual (awkward?) tail of the pearl into a good thing - the pendant reminds me of those little oriental 'pebble' carvings (clouds over a mountain?) or some such. The setting encourages a different look at that pearl.... which is nice.

Now, perhaps the barbed wire bit between the pearls' triangular frame and the chain, could be replaced with a neatly closed jump ring of some kind? The chain could be looped around the pearls' bale. If the piece were here, I'd wear it on a silk cord instead.

PS. care to share any stats about the pearl? It is quite interesting.

If it were a double pearl... that's a pearly snowman to me too. Way too cute.

It is quite refreshing this one - drilled at the very tip top, these tailed baroques just make me sigh for the plump drop they failed to become As is, this one holds its own, methinks.

There is a very gracious simplicity to this piece and how the pearl is suspended. I can see where you get the Grecian antique idea just from that. It's nice and a good design in terms of how the form of the pearl is complemented.

I really like the minimalism of this piece - and that the pearl, and the unique shape of the pearl, is really everything. I would like to see it on skin - on the neckform, the triangular bale stands out more than I think it would when being worn, and also the pearl is less visible against the white. Like Knotty, not wrapped in the bale, but think it would wear beautifully.

There is a kinetic aspect to this piece that seems to have been missed so far. I designed some pendants a few years ago that used side-drilled pearls with a wire running through the hole loosely enough for them to move easily and people seemed to enjoy the way that they could rock, or in some cases even spin, in the mounting.

I thought that it would have to have the top knocked off the pearl in order to add some kind of cap. But then I would have another pearl with a cap. The nice thing about the pearl business is that even if you don't care for a piece someone else will.

Now I have a baroque pearl that needs to be made in to a dolphin. LOL. Anyone have some spare dolphin parts?

I agree - the simplicity of the design is stunning with such a complex, sculptural pearl. I like the idea of the pearl being "kinetic" in the bail - would it actually turn in this case?

I like it alot! Are you the artist we know?? I like the idea of it moving a little, and that it's whole shape is shown. Plus baroque pearls with drippy nacre are always tops on my list!!! Plus it looks pretty large!!

I really like the pearl, so many possibilities with that one but I'm with Knotty the triangle doesn't really work for me. Its nice but just something missing IMO.

OK, it's time for a neck shot! So many factors in how this is a kinetic piece and how the luster and colors will work with skin. It would be great to see how this wears.

What would you both do instead? What kind of setting would fit a pearl like this? No cap would work... the pearl is too long to be center-drilled (it must be 25 to 30 mm in length), it was clearly drilled just above the nucleus... You can tell the triangle is not a standard bale. It was wrapped from a piece of wire to fit the pearl.

What setting would better showcase the pearl?

I really like the triangular bail.I think this unique pearl stands out without much help. so simplicity is best,but I would put a simple jump ring rather than the wire twist like Valeria suggested.

I have no idea, this is one of those items which could lurk in the back drawer for some time until inspiration hits. But that bail is ho-hum. It is okay but it could go on any large pearl....
I mean in the middle picture I can see a woman with a small head, droopy breasts and a big stomach. Now I know that is not going to make a fabulous brooch, but that is from just one photo...
