A “new to me” three strand golden akoya pearl necklace - tiny at 5.5 mm - with all my other golden akoya strands. Such a range of colors. I love them all.

My mother, for one, would approve of that! I have to restrain myself from getting more golden akoyas. They’re such happy, sunny colors - like akoyas with a vacation tan.

Oooo, I love golden Akoyas. They are a softer look than white white, and I love your description of the vacation tan. Right up my alley.

Jeg: I love the colors of that Kojima necklace. It is perfect with the dainty, wire-wrapped keshi! The freshwater and tourmaline dangle is like a busy life - a precarious balancing act. Great symbolism (to me anyway) and such a clever use of a very irregular pearl. The akoyas have a wonderful luster! And, ah, the embroidered flowers in your cardigan mirror the flower tops in the earrings - very nice. Oh and the feathers in the earrings mirror the embroidered leaves!

An unseasonably warm and rainy September Sunday. An endless strand of white south sea keshi from Kojima and a necklace of Chinese baroque ripples (from Miaran pearls) knotted on gray thread with a decorative box clasp (from Sojourner). I'm wearing these with my big, white south sea dangles.

Akoyas today. Earrings and necklace mixed with 9.5-10 mm Akoyas, turquoise, quartz, labradorite and emerald heshi. I added my classic Akoya necklace from Pearl Seiwa in Tokyo.

ennui and MintyFresh, I like pistachio Tahitians, too, but pistachio Akoyas are another story. It’s the one pearl color I’m not fond of for my coloring.

That’s a pretty mix of Akoya, MintyFresh!

Two ropes of mixed Tahitians I put together. One is baroque, the other more roundish. Worn with Tahitian keshi studs from Kamoka and dangly keshi jackets I wire-wrapped.

Lovely pearls, everyone. It's been very hot and humid here. The last few days I've just wore pendants on a chain and not layered on the pearls. Since I added magnetic clasps to all my chains, it's been much easier to throw on a pendant. Many thanks to Merrily for turning me on to the add-on magnetic clasps. I showed my sister and she told me that I just saved her 20 minutes a day.

I wore the The Queen (the white pendant) yesterday with the earrings and ring. I wore Pomme de la Mer (the golden pendant) today with the earrings. Golden South Sea pearl pendant from Pearl Paradise. White freshwater pendant from Kojima Pearl. Mikimoto akoya pearl earrings. Akoya pearl and opal doublet ring from OceanRhyme.

Yesterday I wore white pearls on black linen. Mikimoto Japanese akoya earrings. Freshwater pearl necklaces. Coin pearls from Karen Brown Jewelry. Betty Davis' Teeth from Kojima Pearl. Okay, I had just watched a movie with Betty Davis, where her teeth looked like the pearls and gold beads in this necklace. I don't remember which movie it was, though. The lady at the car dealership where I was getting a recall issue fixed drooled over these pearls and wanted to know if they were antique. They are about 10 years old.

Visiting Dad today. Teeny, tiny pearls and reclaimed blue topaz gemstones stuffed into big soufflé pearls from Hisano of little h. Natural white Hanadama, 8 mm akoya pearl rope from Pearl Paradise. Disco ball clasp is 14K white gold set with cubic zirconia. I know PP was hesitant to use CZs, but I wanted to spend my money on the pearls, not diamonds. PP did me a huge favor. Honestly, the clasp sparkles like crazy in the right light, and nobody can tell the difference. Blue akoya pearls with tiny, tiny, tiny white keshi pearls from Takahashi Pearls and Pearl Paradise.

It's really hard to capture the color and sparkle of the topaz unless I shine lots of light, and then then I can't capture the luster of the pearls, because they need to be in shade. Pearl look great on black, but are impossible to photograph on black.

Yesterday to the Farmers’ Market, nothing matches but it’s my favorite shirt and these pearls make me happy. Pastel freshwater potatoes with one delightful little misshapen pearl that looks to me like a leafy radish.
