Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I know that feeling.
So ... random Tahitians. I had a tin cup necklace that I never really liked and didn't wear, a station bracelet that didn't fit, and three pearls left over from a leather bracelet that wore out.
Many moons ago, Pearl Paradise offered a Tahitian stretch bracelet that was inspired by Keely Shaye (Smith) Brosnan. I always remembered that bracelet, and decided to take the plunge. I'm always reluctant to destroy jewelry but it's just sitting in a drawer. I will probably rework this at some point, but for now, it's easy for summer. Oh, and black spinel between the pearls.

Pretty and wearable. Black spinel adds a nice sparkle!

Thanks @Amoreperla @BWeaves @jeg for your kind words. Indeed, these were a real battle as earrings before and I’m getting more wear out of them (especially the T) as rings.

@PearlyLibrarian thanks for noticing the jadeite peapod! We are expecting our third baby this fall, so I wanted to get a peapod with three peas to signify this.

If I may stray from the topic of pearls, here’s a close up of the peapod. I really like the thin “green strands of gold” that run through the material. It was bought loose and set with a diamond I had at home (I have a small collection of melee-sized diamonds from dismantling second-hand jewellery).

That’s so sweet! Congrats! I have one myself - we call my daughter “Bean” as a nickname so it’s partially in her honor!

Long time no post!

I’ve been wearing pearls each day but not taking any pics to share!

Today I have a new pair of circle Tahitian huggies to share. Along with Tahitian keshi station necklace I cannot remember whether or not I’ve shared. And tiny freshwater huggies in my second piercing that I have been wearing all summer and literally never taking out (breaking all the jewelry rules!)

I am not doing a great job of capturing the green to aubergine gradient on these circle pearls. The room I’m in is painted yellow which is not helping my lighting situation at all….

Visiting Dad today, so BIG or go home. PSS (Pearl Shrinkage Syndrome) is a real thing. It happens when you start buying pearls and bigger pearls, and then your regular sized pearls look too small and you have to go bigger.

Incredibly lustrous necklace of Chinese freshwater pearls. Center pearl is 14mm. Freshwater baroque drops on my Mom's hoop earrings. Smallest dimension is 12 mm. South Sea pearl bird ring. Width of pearls around their bodies is 11.5 mm and 9.5 mm. BBBA (Big Blue Baroque akoya ring) is 15 mm x 13 mm. Double BBA ring has 11 mm and 9 mm pearls. Necklace from Kojima Pearl. Earring drops from Pearls of Joy, Bird ring from OceanRhyme. BBA rings from Takahashi (and Pearl Paradise).

Merrily gifted me a pearl sheep. It combines my love of wool for spinning and weaving with my love of pearls. She's sitting on one of my handwoven rugs. Oh, her name is Pearl, of course.

Those Miki's look amazing with linen. I'm still hoping to find a nice vintage strand of Miki's but my neighborhood thrift stores just have junk.

It's too hot to wear layers of pearls in Florida right now, so I'm reaching for my lightweight summer pearls. Reborn pearl necklace and earrings from a jewelry store in Mt. Dora, which went out of business. I think these were my 25th anniversary present. Akoya and opal ring from OceanRhyme.

My new purchases ✨

My friend was asking what special occasions will I be wearing these to, and knowing me, I very much doubt they will be reserved for special occasions only.

I’m a strong believer in wearing the things you love without fear!

11.8mm black south sea, Mikimoto
12.00mm white south sea, Mikimoto

I love them both equally, would you guys have a favourite? 🥺

I’m very happy how the bracelet matches the colour of my black south sea ring and I find them a bit more casual somehow. The lustre is beautiful in the sunlight. Absolutely gorgeous!

The white bracelet definitely exceeds my expectations as south sea pearls often have less lustre than Mikimoto Akoyas, however even in low light these really do glisten, quite mesmerising! I could easily stare at them all day long.

I also realised that I could technically wear both as a necklace since the clasps fit into each other but quite tight! 🤣 Maybe I just need to get another one…

But my next dream purchase is indeed a strand of south seas pearls 🥺
