Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Feeling the blues again today. Intensely blue baroque akoyas in a very large size 10-13.7 mm from Pearl Paradise Live event last month.

I have to share this photo. I'm not a cat person. This is my friend's cat. I recently corrupted her to the pearl side, and she's taking the Pearls As One course. She just bought some Tahitians from PP and Kojima, and here's the photo of the tin-cup she bought. Isn't he a glorious model!

Ohhh YEAH!!!

Visiting Dad today wearing Mom's pearls. Mom's akoya ring and ring pin. My freshwater drops from Kojima on my own huggies.

Comparing my Hanadama studs to my baroque akoya necklace from PP. From a short distance, they match really well. Up close, the Hanadamas have a perfect surface texture, while the baroque pearls are slightly off round and have a bumpy surface. But the baroques have much thicker nacre than the Hanadamas. The luster, though!!! Equivalent.

Finished stringing these—a $10 64” absolutely chaotic rice & keishi strand strung with 14k findings from old rice pearls I thrifted. I am sooooo pleased.

I might grab some more gold beads and make some more pieces with the several feet left of the strand. The pearls are lovely but the way it is strung is so overwhelming that you can’t actually see how pretty the pearls are.

It’s going to take me a while to catch up here! But, just from this page…

BWeaves, that CAT!!! Sure looks good in pearls, and your woven shawls are wonderful.

Pearl Dreams, nice examples of your FW strand in multiple settings. Looks so beautiful in every light.

Mary-Contrary, what a fun thrifty find! Your remakes turned out great!

A little souvenir from my trip to Japan. I also posted this in the trip thread, and repeating it here. I made a donation at the Japan Pearl Fair and received this sweet little pearl pin. “Donations will be used for environmental conservation activities. Please keep this beautiful pearl with a deep luster as a gift from nature.”
