Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Stacked my 7-8mm akoya drops with a jadeite Buddha for a matinee show today. Paired them with silver Tahitian keshi earrings and blue baroque akoya bracelet. Tagging @pattye as she inspired me to wear the bracelet!

I just got back from an international braiding conference in Cleveland, OH, and there were more pearls waiting for me when I got home. Please check out my Trip to Japan thread for more photos and the continuing story. The new stuff is at the end of the thread this time. Click on the following photo to go straight to the new stuff.

Plus, I ordered the huge "Paris, City of Pearls" book, and that was also waiting for me when I got home from the conference.

Thanks so much Pearlgully and SurfnSci!

Syrie, those keshi look great together, and your T studs were a great find!

SurfnSci, the colors of your Tahitians are so pretty and what a nice match!

Very pretty, Pomelo, everything!

SOC necklace with a SOC keshi necklace, both from Kojima. The Akoya dangles are from Simply Adorned.

Pomelo, lovely akoyas and wow, your blue bracelet - so very pretty!!!

Jeg, we are on the same pearl wavelength today :giggle: love, love, love your SoC pearls and keshi (and your gorgeous akoya dangles!)

SoC pendant and keshi bracelet I made with pearls/keshi from the SoC e-store and Druzy Design.

OOOOO, my SOC dream strands. They always get away from me and end up in JEG's jewelry box, where I can still enjoy them!!!! Haha.
SurfnSci, yours are gorgeous too.

Grocery shopping pearls. All Kamoka Tahitians. Earrings on 18k Bali gold findings. La Petite Pearlagrina pendant. Small but incredibly colorful with great luster. Deep cherry and peacock.

PJs and Pearls. I'm not getting dressed today and you can't make me. But pearls are a must.

All Kamoka Tahitians again today. Black and white studs. This pair goes with everything. My All Josh 2019 Harvest necklace. This is the only harvest necklace that is all near rounds. This necklace is neck and neck (so to speak) with my natural white Hanadama rope as being my best necklace.

I love the white flying saucer that's directly across from the black Death Star.

It looks better next to skin.

The white pearl is actually a subtle pale blue. And the black pearl has a purple halo.

lary007: They don't match, but they GO! Since I've been on Pearl-Guide and seen how other people wear their pearls, I've gotten better about mixing and matching pearls I wouldn't think would go together. But they all work.

After last night's (25-June-2025) PP Live Event with the 20 year old high quality akoyas, I thought I'd dig out my 70 year old 5.5-6 mm akoyas.

My Mom bought this choker necklace when I was born, so 66 years ago. I'm sure the jeweler had the necklace for a year or two before Mom bought it, and the akoya vendors had the pearls before that, so the pearls have to be 70 years old ish.

My earrings are Mikimoto, and the pearls are brand new (because I lost an earring and Mikimoto replaced both pearls). I'm also comparing Mom's necklace with my 10 year old natural white Hanadamas from PP because the old pearls can hold their own with the new pearls.

AKOYAS!!!

OH, Mom's necklace is NOT Mikimoto. Mom had a double strand of Mikis which she restrung with a fancy clasp, so she put the Miki clasps on other necklaces, because the clasps are easy to work and look nice.

You can see my phone in the reflection of the pearls.

PSS (Pearl Shrinkage Syndrome) is the reason I don't wear these often.

Gorgeous pearls!!!

Thank you, Jeg!
Wow, BWeaves, those are really gorgeous akoyas and what a special choker!!! Love your harvest strand, as well!
Lary007, I really like the color pairing and your blues have the perfect baby blue hue :)

I have not been much of an akoya wearer in the past, but I've been really inspired by everyone's lovely akoyas lately! Wearing pistachio akoyas I wire-wrapped from Druzy today.

Visiting Dad today. I haven't seen him in a month. I'm bringing all my Japan trip treasures with me to show him.

Beachy tin-cup with emerald and sapphire beads, and feather pearl pendant from Kojima. Blue baroque akoya ring bought from Takahashi on the Japan pearl farm trip.

About that PSS (Pearl Shrinkage Syndrome). 70 year old akoyas, 5.5-6 mm. Chinese freshwater pearls from Kojima Pearl, 11.1-13.3 mm. These are some of the few freshwater pearls I’ve seen with an akoya like luster. I’ve never seen another strand like these. I've seen ripples, but nothing this smooth. They were way less expensive than South Sea pearls, but give me a similar look.

WOWZA, BWeaves, those are amazing Kojima freshies  I can't get over the luster, especially for that pearl size. Love your look yesterday, too, especially that lovely Takahashi ring. (And thank you so much for your kind words - I had to learn to wire wrap to stretch my pearl budget, hehe!)

Tahitians from JNBGems today.
