Hi, I hope someone here can help. A relative of mine found a saltwater pearl while eating oysters this past Sat. It's the size and shape of a pumpkin seed, white and with some luster to it. We have no place here to have a pearl appraised and I wondered if anyone could suggest what he should do. We have no idea if it has any value. Thanks for any help.

And was it raw or cooked?

It was in an oyster shell and it wasn't cooked. They were eating raw ones. The oysters were from the Gulf of Mexico. Off the coast of Texas. I haven't seen the pearl. They were in the Florida panhandle visiting other relatives when he found the pearl. He is on his way home now so I'll get a pic of it and post here. thanks
