Yes, this is managed by David Wong. He is the guy behind metakaku and his father owns Fukui Shell Factory. They supply the nuclei to a lot of producers.

I haven't visited this farm, but my understanding is that it is not so much a commercial farm as it is an educational tool.

Dear Jeremy, maybe you have some information. Could David or his father have farms, for example, in China or other regions? I looked at their website; it hasn't been updated since 2021. They offer pearls for sale. But there's no information whether the pearls are from their farms or if they're wholesale?

Fukui Shell Nucleus Factory focuses on the pearl nuclei production.
The Pearl Farm is the responsible for the retail and ecotourism.
Pearl Professor is the website for sustainable pearl education, where we teach students about sustainability via the perspective of pearl industry.

There are three sites that we run.

Saikung - a small site just for ecotourism.
Taipo - a farm that houses the main stock of pearl oysters
Xunliao, China - largest pearl farm operation

Please also note there are two types of rafts.

- regular rafts, which does not permit outsiders to visit
- rafts with the leisure fishing license, allows outsiders to visit

We host the pearl ecotourism at the raft with the leisure fishing license.

It is a fact that climate change is really changing the way we do the pearl farming business.
