Until you see the Buddha, the pieces look 19th century Russian. This really is a departure.

I love this framing in stones idea. In fact I like the lots of small stones idea in most applications I have seen. I don't think it is going away as a fashion.

What next? Mermaids? I would rather wear a mermaid than a Buddha- zen as he may be.

The first thing I thought of was, they are inspired by Hisano's work!

They don't look right to me as I would prefer an inverted triangle (or an inverted pear) if I were to hang something from it.
