Hello to everyone!

I am member couple of months, and must say that I really enjoy everything I found here.
Pearls are my great passion (not a profession, it is just a hobby) and I enjoy collecting them and making different kind of jewellery. I am bying pearls at flea markets all over the Europe, thrift shops and of course, online...
I just found and bought two necklaces online for a fairly low price. The seller wrote they are simulated pearls, which I do not think is quite true.
Not wanting to be pretentious, since now I made only a few mistakes.
I have read a lot of threads here, and would kindly ask if anyone could help me with the question if these are cultured pearls.
The photos are the original from the seller, they were taken with light and dark background.
Of course, the real surprise will come when they arrive :)
Thank you all, warm regards from Serbia.

Thank you for your replies.
It is stated- Faux pearls with smooth, lustrous finish, cream shade graduated, pearls range from 4/5 mm to 7/8 mm. Approx length is 32.5 and approx 34 inches long. No clasp, they slip over the head.
They were sold for 25 bucks...

Do post your own photos!!!

I find that Akoyas (or any saltwater pearl) has less grit than freshwater. Some Faux have about the same grit (from dirt) and people mistake the 2. Often the saltwater has 1 way grit & dirty faux seems to have a slight 2 way... but I also look at drill holes & imperfections. A 3 point check is much better. I have a pile of faux that really took a lot of checking to make sure they weren't real, so I can see how someone with less experience might think real akoyas were faux and faux were real.

So far I have not had the "temperature test" fail me. It works for both plastic and glass imitation pearls. (I have not tried it with so-called shell pearls which have a shell bead and imitation coating).

Real pearls are cooler than fake pearls. To do this test you need to have the pearls you are testing, and also some other pearl or pearls that you either know for sure are real (or that you know for sure are fake), to compare with. Aside: This may be a reason to keep one fake strand!

Put the test pearls and the control (comparison) pearls in the same temperature environment for 30 minutes or so, to eliminate that variable. Then touch each to your lips briefly-- lips are very sensitive to temperature differences. Real pearls are cooler than fake ones.

Yeah a great 4th test!!!!

Sure, holding them and inspecting them is hard to make mistake.
I based my opinion only on a few fotos, so I'm impatiently waiting them to come 😃
However, they were cheap so it was fine to take the risk.
I will definitely post the result 😊
