Gimp

I did not know you could re-wind gimp but would it be quite loose then? Yes, I have been bad and fiddled with the gimp in my hands and with tweezers. Mine is both kinked and is showing small signs of tarnishing in spots. Is it okay to use gold gimp with silver parts? Would it not look odd?
I have lost many a piece of gimp with the tweezers too. It must be sacrilegious to waste the amount of strings and gimp that I do just to teach myself knotting.

Have been working on my knotting and decided to make my own gimp, an experiment of course, with 32 gauge wire. This is argentium silver. I do find it easy to work with, wind it on a fine straight pin. Time will tell how it holds up.

Pattye, how is your gimp made with argentium holding up?

Hi Kat! I enjoyed it too. A lot of the old threads are fun and useful still.
Amazing how much has changed in 4years as well. Now we hardly ever read about stringing with silk and its problems.
