1980's pearl necklace bought on vacation in Hawaii - are they real? What kind?

I love this forum (and pearls!)!

My former husband bought me a pearl necklace while we were vacationing in Hawaii. I've loved them ever since and only wear them on very special occasions.

After looking through this website and forum, I started wondering what kind of pearls they were.

Pearls don't photograph well against a dark background. See if you can get a better one on a paper towel or a white piece of paper and preferably in indirect natural light. Thanks and welcome!
