Hello Everybody.

It looks like a nice joke...
I have also tried on dozen and dozen of pearls, but never I saw that kind of results... with such kind of tools and in only 20 minutes ...
We have maybe more than 2000 ugly pearls...
We tried so many process: grind, cut, sand, acid, vinegar, lemon, hammer, heating, freezing, boiling, frying....
Some times, we have just succeed to find

but this guy from New Zealand must be a Lotto winner or a champion.
I will take some picture to show you some samples...

Here is a row of 8 pearls ....

the 2 first pearls are just the layers of shell (the nucleus is gone).
Then 2 pearl with only half of the shell layer
And on the right a smaller pearl revealed under some dirty layer of shell.

The second picture shows:
the same 2 pearls from the previous picture, and 3 pearls from a white(dead) pearl, a natural dark chocolate and a green one ...

Fascinating, marama but how do you come to see 8 pearls in the first row? I see only 6 or maybe 7 if I count the very first pearl to the left as 2 pearls.

The natural coloured chocolate and the green ones are lovely. Is this the result after peeling?

there is actually 8 pearls ...
I put the chocolate and green pearls just for you guys to have a reference for the color.
You are also right, on the first picture, you can see a small pearl inside the whole ... but actually it is a Keshi. In my opinion, there was a growing keshi inside the oyster, when some bacteria started to infected the pearl bag... this involve some organic fermentation, and some water or gas trapped between two layers of shell (you know, the stinky water that you find when you drill some baroque pearls). For this pearl, the thin layer of shell broke and revealled the keshi inside ... I let you imagine the very strong smell that have on the room ....

We have also peeled pearls...with mixed results. But this arcane art of "Pearl Peeling" is quite interesting and sometimes difficult to master.
