Antique photo of Mrs. George Gould

Here is my version of Mrs. Gould's pearls. I'm going to call it Mrs. G's pearls, because my last name also begins with a G. Not sure how I feel about them for a couple of reasons. I didn't get a good shot of them on because I was shooting myself, and I should know by now not to use black. Also, I don't have Mrs. Gould's neck, waist or bosom. I'm not a pink pearl person in that I like them, but I don't think they like me. The big pearls look pinker than they are in real life, but the keshis are so shiny, they're picking up the color. I'm also not sure they are long enough yet! They are 38.5" knotted (OMG) and I still haven't put a clasp on them. I keep thinking I should make them longer. Anyway, I'm taking suggestions. I am not going to keep them, so if they won't appeal to people I guess I'm going to be cutting knots!!
Instead of being knotty, I'll be nutty. lol.

Hi

Hi

Hi Mrs. G,
I like it!!! :) The pearls look MUCH better against the neutral background, like you said. Those keshi nuggets are colorful. They add texture to the strand. What a great combination with the pink pearls! I think the length is so personal. A tall person may like it longer than 35". I don't like mine longer than 35" or 36". To me the longer it is, the more it gets in the way. I would rather have a clasp to change it to a double strand. Remember the FW keshi I PM'd you? It's 35" with no clasp; and I can't wrap it around my head. Just MHO.

Hi Sheryl,
I like it, too.
I have an unfinished one here, very similar, in different colours,
and one reason it's not finished is I keep thinking I'd like it to be longer...
At the moment, it's 42 inches, and I may well add to it.......:D

I want to see yours!

42 inches, hmmm. I might make mine a little bigger, it will definitely have a clasp Cathy, and for more petite people, than it could wrap 3 times!

I love those little keshis and just put some strands on my website.

How about Mrs. Gould's super-super long strand?

Okey Dokey Sheryl,
I'll take a couple of pics. later today.

Here's the pics. Sheryl.
Sorry they had to be taken under electric light - the weather has been awful here today and by the time I got home it was very dark and gloomy.

The pearls are Josh keishis and semi-baroques.
I've another station rope waiting to be finished, too, using black and white f.w.'s and white S.S.'s.
Will try to take a couple of pics. of that one, too.

Wow! That is gorgeous. I am way more a Tahitian girl than a pink pearl girl, although I love all my pearls. How does this hang since it is not knotted and so long? I really went back and forth, and my first instinct was to do just what you have - string it and put spacers at the large pearls, but I was concerned whether the drape would be soft enough with a necklace that long. I may still be cutting knots!

Sheryl,

I agree the black sweater has caused the pearls to not look their best, but in the other photos they are lovely, and I'm sure will be a great color on you!

Sueki,

Also love the Tahitian rope, Josh's pearls are amazing, I have a few in my stash--just waiting-----

Great classics with an edge, keep the necklaces and photos coming!

Hi Sheryl,
Thanks for your comments.
The necklace will be knotted - it's temporarily strung on wire at the moment while I decide whether or not to make it longer...
When I make the necklace, I'll be knotting it.
I don't want to risk losing even one of those keishis....
I ordered some Dandyline which arrived today, and I'm going to use that for the stringing, so hopefully the necklace will drape nicely.

Pattye, thank you, too, for your comments; and get yer finger out girl and make something amazing with your Josh pearls .......:D ;)

Oh,
And here's some pics. of the black and white f.w.'s with S.S.'s.
This one's about 48 inches long.
The f.w.'s are about 6mm.

Oh, I love that too. But news! I found the picture Mist was looking for, although not a very good copy, but it's a start. Here it is Mrs. Gould in her pearl gown -

That's odd, my post in this thread has vanished...

I said how I liked Sue's necklaces, the black and white is classic and I like the keishi and rounds - the rounds sort of ground the keishi which always look a little lost to me if they are on their own .

Susan,

the ropes are lovely, especially the freshwater and SS. Is Dandyline comparable to Power Pro or is it more soft?

Thanks Wendy - yes, I know what you mean re. keishi looking a little lost sometimes...
Inge,
I haven't tried the Dandyline yet - hope to tomorrow.
I ordered it after reading Caitlin's reports about it.
It's supposed to be softer than Powerpro, and stronger than silk.
No stretch, either....
Will let you know how I get on with it...;)

Hi Wendy
No deletions on this thread- you may have done what I have done more than once and posted it on another thread
