I do not know if this question is okay - if not - please forgive me in advance and just ignor.

T J Maxx has a vast selection of discounted jewelry and always has some major pearl pieces, does anyone have an opinion of this store's inventory?

Thank you, Francesca

I have never shopped for jewelery there, so no opinion on their stock. I'd investigate their return policy before looking at merchandise with any serious intent.

Hi Francesca,

I look there occasionally. The stores obviously carry different items, I'm guessing surplussed out of some stores. Occasionally they have had designer pieces--not pearl that I have seen, however. Most of the pieces I have looked at seem to be almost "varnished" they are so shiney, and I would guess heavily treated---not particularly good quality pearls themselves, lots of circled pearls, nuggety, very off round. My feeling is in general you will not have items of lasting quality. But if it is a fun piece, and you consider it's value as costume jewelry--hey, why not??!!
Remember, the lights are pretty bright at the jewelry counter!!

Recently I've seen some oval pearls that have nice colors and some of the pearls have metallic luster.

Ahhhhh - thank you all for such great info! I wouldn't know anything about "varnishing". There is so much to learn. I would rather invest in lasting quality so that would steer me away from purchasing there. It is all so tempting :).

I actually have gotten fond of ordering on line with "our" companies. I feel more secure.

An occasional fun piece from here or there is okay - I am saving for a special piece from a certain French lady :) n'cest pa.

I've seen pearls at T J Maxx and they aren't all that bad. Usually it is someones overstock, they aren't there because the quality is bad just because someone had to much inventory and sold it off at or below thier cost to reclaim some money. If you like the style buy it....

Yes, the ovals I bought were very similar to Jeremy's exotics but a little smaller. I actually bought them to add to Jeremy's strand when stringing it. So quality wasn't an issue. Of course each strand at that store has to be evaluated in its own light; not all are nice.
