I'm going to a memorial for a weaving friend's husband today, so I'm wearing a little black dress and white pearls. Mikimoto earrings. My first akoya pearl rope from 1982. My natural white Hanadama rope from Pearl Paradise. Mixed tin-cup of white South Sea pearls, non-bead nucleated freshwater pearls, and small akoya keshi from Kojima Pearl. Mom's akoya ring.

A word about clasps. My two akoya ropes are very good quality pearls, but I cheaped out on the clasps because I wanted to put my money into the pearls. The older, shorter rope has a gold plated clasp with CZs. The Hanadama rope has a white gold clasp with CZs. They sparkle like diamonds and nobody knows the difference except for me.

I love my white and golden South Sea and Tahitian double drop earrings from OceanRhyme, so I asked Julia if she could make me some blue baroque akoya and Tahitian double drop earrings in a similar look. The colors are even stronger in real life, and the luster is fantastic.

Big folk music festival and dance last night. I wore my souffle and tanzanite necklace that I posted last week paired with a new circle Tahitian and tanzanite necklace I just had made. Those pearls came from CMW. The earrings are WSS from Cees that
I had set in the Pearl Paradise blossom setting.

I like the shapes of the pearls on your new earrings, BWeaves.

A vintage jade fish with Kasumi pearl pendant from Kojima, worn on a chain I wrapped with tiny Akoya keshi from Takahashi. The keshi and tourmaline earrings are from Kojima and Sarah found the Akoya strand from a vendor in Tucson. I was going to make two bracelets with the Akoya strand, but I only had one clasp, so I made it into a choker length that I can also wrap around my wrist.

Trying out my new blue baroque akoya and Tahitian mismatched earrings (OceanRhyme) with various pearl necklaces. Today it's the Coral Atoll circled Tahitian necklace (Kamoka pearl farm). Handwoven linen towel. Wearing these pearls with jeans and a purple T-shirt.

Vintage 1990s pearls. Mom's Rice Krispie freshwater pearls. The dragon's clasp is behind its head and not in its mouth. Akoya earrings with ruby hearts were a gift to me from my Mom decades ago. Good luster holds up!

BWeaves and Pearl Dreams, your pearls remind me to dig through my stash and pull out some oldies. I often forget about some of my favorite old pieces.

A strand of baroque blue Akoya from Takahashi, tiny SS studs from a PP/Takahashi live event, and an Akoya tin cup and jackets I wrapped with loose pearls from Takahashi.

How it started: I caught this long tin-cup on the handle of my fridge and broke it when I stood up. I feel so stupid, because I did this once before, and Sarah from Kojima kindly fixed it.

How it's going: This time, Sarah was in Tucson when I broke it, and when she came back she was busy with Pearls by the Bay, so I asked Hisano at Pearl Paradise if she could make it a double strand and add a clasp. Hisano kindly fixed it for me. Hopefully now it's short enough that I won't snag it on any more doorknobs. It's still a pretty long necklace, but it doesn't hang lower than my boobs.

I feel like such an idiot for breaking it TWICE. I love a long rope of pearls, but these pearls are very pointy, so they don't just roll out of whatever they may get stuck on. They snag and hold like anchors. And then I've broken the chain before I realize that the necklace is tugging at my neck.

Ooooooo Im so far behind ! Too many pearly delights to comment on each..so I'll just pick out a couple ! BWeaves I feel that rope pain ! I've got these pistol grip door handles that snag everything ! I've eliminated all ropes now except for one 40" Tahitian, SS mix Keshi and baroque that I only wear doubled. But I do love your keshi tin cup ! Lustre on those new earrings .. yummy. And of course the colour of the Tahitian necklaces. wow

Pattye... don't you just love big Freshwaters!! I've got some white ones that I wear more than any others.

jeg ... I love the Fish ! really unusual colours ( at least to me they seem unusual as I know nothing about Jade ). And those Keshi...girl you have 10x the patience that I have...no way could I wrap those tiny beauties ! And the Akoya strand is gorgeous !

That blue baroque akoya pinky ring is gorgeous! Are pearl rings difficult to take care of? I'm not a very careful person so I'm worried that the pearls would get scratched if I get them in ring form.
