Guess?

We are in the office today updating the pages. Hopefully we will have another few pages up by tomorrow.

Of yeah, and the shipping department is in getting as much prepped to go out tomorrow as possible.

Congrats to xeresana for this - http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1364 - just gorgeous. I love the graduations.

I'm going to start crying. I think the new pieces have gone up and I want to buy at least two more. That's in addition to the AAA dyed freshwater set I'm getting. Gonna be so broke ...

BTW, did you take down some of the pages which have sold out? I remember you had so many more that's disappeared.

Is it crazy to buy two lavendar strands, all for myself? They are different shades of lavender ...

Can I just reiterate everything Raisondetre just posted.

That graduated strand was my second favorite after Boo's 101 strand - I suppose I must now call it Boo's, but my jealousy still prevents me from congratulating her ;).

I'm begging you Jeremy please don't post anymore strands this has turned from fun into an exquisite form of torture for me.

I give up. I just bought two more. Will post the links after I've confirmed I've actually got them. I'm not even bothering to combine shipping with my last order because I'm gonna get taxed on it with the total value. I think the shipping is cheaper than a 10% VAT. Not to mention my first order is going to be shipped out late because of the customized earrings I'm getting for the Freshadamas/dyed freshwaters. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I really hope I get it by Friday (Saturday for you guys). I'm not sure why I need two lavender strands but it looks so delicious onscreen.

Tried re-adding the same items to my cart after I ordered and it did say it was out of stock, so I'm happy.

Here's my collection including the one I got last Friday.
http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1335 - love the rich color
http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1344 - almost looks like the baroque Akoyas from PP's farm but in pink, and freshwater - all the better
http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1387 - kinda looks like chestnuts on a string to me; very interesting shape and unusual color

Someone please tell me the two lavenders are different ...

I refuse to go into debt for jewellery so I guess my 9-10 mm Freshadama set will have to wait till July, and so will the Tahitian multicolor strand I'm having Jeremy put together for me once the rush is over, probably October. Really need to get some nice pendants and double/triple strand freshadamas as well. So much to look forward to.

Very pretty strands Raisondetre! Love the lavender. Wish I could wear lavender. I hope to see neck photos of all of these different beauties on their new owners in the next couple weeks!

Raisondetre, you got some beauties! Don't feel too bad about postponing your Freshadamas until later - you are not alone. I gave up a lavender 9-10mm Freshadama necklace/earring set to get the baroque. That was supposed to have been my Christmas/Valentines/Mother's Day combo present from my husband (per my request). However, I am definitely happy with the tradeoff.

Also your lavenders do look very different to me - the one is a nice pinkish lavender (I love your chestnut comparison) and the other is darker true-lavender.

I think the tradeoff makes a lot of sense. Jeremy usually has the round strands in stock (the lavender sometimes takes a little while, but it's a regular item). These ? who knows when he'll get them again!

Lovely strands, everyone!

Just checked in over at PP. Four new pages are up! Some new lavender strands, though mostly they are pinks and multi-color ones. I . . am . . . having . . . to . . . restrain . . . myself . . . from grabbing my credit card and ordering another!

Those are beautiful. I just got back from vacation today and I've just started looking. I was planning some freshadama earrings but am thinking I may get a strand instead.I don't know.
I'm leaning towards lavender. I hope there are some good ones around in the next couple days.

There are still a lot of beautiful strands left at PP. Don't just judge the strands by the small snapshot, you won't get the full mesmerizing effect unless you see the whole strand. That must have been some kind of challenge matching up those strands, some multi's had "patterns"--.

So many of our forum members with websites had lovely items available for Mom's Day. So Congratulations to all us Moms who bought gifts for ourselves and others, and so much the better if someone else bought Pearl Lovelies for you!;)

so many pearls, so little time

This thread has been my downfall. Even though I had ordered pearls earlier this month(twice,on two different MD specials), I was still plagued by lust for these. ;) I ordered this strand http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1373. My husband chose it actually. (I paid for it, but wanted his opinion). I was going back between pink and lavender, and I got great advice to get the pink. But, I ordered the lavender anyway. This strand's shade seems very subtle and while I am pale with dark brown hair, my skin does have olive tones to it.

I have to say, this game is so much more fun when you play. :D

They are all so beautiful - what causes the differences in prices? Is it by colour, size, symmetry, orient, luster, or matching? Or a combination of factors?

Exactly how many strands were there? You're almost sold out already, aren't you?

Thank goodness I got in early. My second order's already been shipped - I'm expecting it Wed or Thurs by the latest. I think Kirsten is still working on my customized earrings but hopefully they will arrive latest by Friday.

Need more pearls ...

I'm interested to know what causes the price difference as well. I've noticed the lavenders are generally more expensive.

If I recall there were about 200 strands... There are only a few left, indeed.

what causes the differences in prices? Is it by colour, size, symmetry, orient, luster, or matching? Or a combination of factors?

This one is loaded... but I will try to break it down for you.

When we create a special lot or line like this the first thing we do is determine the overall cost of the finished product. This includes the stringing and clasp. We then separate the product into 2 distinctive quality categories. With this particular lot the separation was made by surface characteristics and luster for the most part, with some consideration made for color and other special features.

Within each of these two separations there is a determined range with what we have determined to be actual cost within each marked. A certain number of strands will go under, and a certain number will go over. Do you remember those number lines we worked with as kids? When you know what numbers are needed to create a certain percentage, the pearls are arranged by grade within each range. The final differences in numbers (prices) can seem a bit more random as we try to fit the exact formula we were looking for.

This method of pricing is used for special lots that likely will not be duplicated. This is also how quite a few of the pieces can actually go for below production cost. I know a few of you know what approximate actual cost is and were wondering how some of the listed prices were possible.

As for the individual pieces and prices, the above job fell upon Kirsten last week. So she may have given extra preference to strands with more lavender as even this type of separation is going to be affected by personal preference to some extent.

Thats whole section is so fun to look at, great eye candy and intereseting to see how many colors freshwaters copme in. Some of the ones I was looking yesterday at are already gone! I'm on a budget too just came back from a vacation and everything. Salem the one you just got was one of the ones I was looking at :) we must have similar taste.
I ffinally settled on this one http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1366 out of the remaining pearls.

I have to say I just love all the color in these and don't think these can be divided into two catagories as far as color goes. Those amazing blue purple colors that some of you got early on look more lilac or blueberry. Some of the pinks look gold like this one http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1345 I guess it could be an apricot color. Some of them sort of border on either lavender and pink like the one I chose.

Lol, Casey, it is too funny. We do have similar tastes. I almost bought the strand you did. ;) I called my husband at work and had him look at both, and at a pink strand. Then he chose. But once the pink was eliminated, it was just those two. We liked how the colors were more subtle, kind of an in-between color. I think they will be beautiful. Congratualtions on the strand you got. I can't wait to get mine. heehee
