Vietnamese blue akoya

Beautiful necklace and earrings!!! I think I may need to come to the next ruckus just to see these gorgeous pieces in person!!

Pearls are gorgeous! Earrings so amazing beautiful!

oh MY! i hadn't seen this before - Newberry, the necklace it is perfect! like someone said upthread, the pearls are like a crashing wave of bubbles holding up the peanut! and those earrings just complete the set so well. LOVE! (what is the clasp?)

Thanks everyone. This necklace is very special. I just love it.

The clasp I chose when it was only going to be a double strand was the sunflower clasp. Then the necklace morphed into the quadruple strand. That presented the only problem. My only input was maybe we could still use the sunflower clasp and just put two strands on each spot. Not sure this would even work. But Hisano being the whiz she is figured out a way and it is perfect. The back pearls are very small and since it is a torsade they need to be bunched up. It has been dark and rainy here so my pictures have not turned out well. I will post some of the clasp when I can get a good one.

Link to the clasp.

Have I mentioned how much I love this necklace :)

after seeing those, I guess we have to change the term to "Envy with BLUE!" Congrats on your new beauty!

( My boys got me a frying pan... I mean it's nice...but...it's not blue Akoya earrings...)

I was sipping some sweet tea, and literally spit it out laughing. My guess is you are a really good cook and thus the frying pan ;-)

I have a question for the Blue Akoya fans here.

By chance did anyone get a chance to purchase Baby Blue SSP? How do the colors compare to the Akoyas if you own them both?

You give me far too much credit my dear ! I think there was a severe case of 'lack of inspiration' going around. It's not like I don't mention things....lol...believe me I mention things....oooooo that's nice......ooooooo I'd like that......but no one really listens...hence instead of getting a pearl drill....I got a pearl drill bit. sigh I do love them anyway.. lol

Well at least you can still join me in aspiring to the newest model of pearl drill (see my blog for details) I half expected it to rise up from the floor playing some apt tune like a ballroom organ. Such a fabulous piece of kit.

I could swear I commented on this yesterday ! Lol I think I'm losing my mind ! You were one day too late with this post as I had just ordered a drill and it's on the truck heading my way. But ..I got a good price so I can't complain ! Now I just need to figure out how to use it ....YouTube will have something ..I hope lol

Back to BPD question about the colours ...does anyone have both the BSS and Blue Akoya that they could photo next to each other ? Newberry's gorgeous baroque PP blue pearls have a BSS pendant on first page of thread ..are they the Vietnamese Blue ones ? Cause in that photo they looked very similar. In colour.

Ah ! Thank you for that ! At times I write on my iPad and often get disconnected from the website without realising it ..so my post never actually posts . I thought maybe that's what happened. I did remember answering regarding the pearl drill ! At least you've reassured me that my brain has not entirely turned to Swiss cheese.

This may not be helpful, but this is my personal strand of baroque blue SS. The center pearl is approx 15.5 by 17.5mm with graduation to 12.5 by 14mm. There is color variation between the pearls. If I locate my blue akoya, I'll take a photo together, although they aren't high quality or Vietnamese.

Lovely Pattye! Are those Tahitian keshis between the blue SSPs?

Thanks for replying & sharing these very pretty gems. I like the addition of keshi spacers. I would be really curious to see the akoya together with the BSSP. So do you think these are more platinum blue or pinkish blue? I think it is great you've added some pics, helpful for sure!!!

Pattye - a WHOLE STRAND of Blue BSSP?????? I'm going to faint. And I can't quite remember was it you or Blaire that had the strands of baroque SoC pearls (sorry!!!)? AND the Nautilus "pearls", right? OMG lolol is there ANY pearls out there that you don't own a collection of?

Even though I don't remember the proper owner of the SoC strand, I do remember the source (from Ehret), and if you don't mind sharing, I would love to know the source of the BBSSPs! Feel free to either share here or PM me if you prefer. Thanks Pattye!

So, was able to locate the blue akoya; here's the pics.

(Purr, yes, lol, I have 2 Sea of Cortez baroque strands, too, as do some other P-Gers.) The Blue SS strand was also purchased from Care Ehret probably 10 years ago.

Only a few of the blue SS have a slight pinkish overtone~BPDDC, I'd call them silver-blue definitely. The spacers are Kamoka keshi. Originally I wanted blue saltwater keshi, but couldn't find any larger ones, so I just mix my Tahitian keshi bracelets with my blue ss bracelet, lol, and it's fun! I restrung the necklace for the Ruckus last year.
