The designer's corner

Major procrastination on the research that's due too soon (my deadline be d%*med) so I had to do something with the hands as I've already bitten off whatever fingernails I have left with all the nervous energy milling about.

Since we were discussing keishi pearl earring designs over at the SoC and diamond thread, I'd thought it was timely to put these up.

As some of you might know, I like my cheapie CFWP keshis either small (under 4mm) or big (above 15mm, I just got my hands on massive 35mm ones, can't wait) so here's what I did with mine:

- Keshi petal focals with australian opal, welo and mexican opal , pink topaz, tourmaline and sapphire with FW rounds and the teensiest rice pearls (1.5mm)

- Lavender-mauve baroque pearl coins with dyed peacock pearl keshis and an entire palette of purple gems (moss amethyst, tanzanite, grape amethyst, scorolite [strange new opalescent lilac gem], labradorite and umba sapphire).

Findings are granulated earwires direct from an Ubud workshop in Bali where I was holidaying. So cheap back then. Why did I not get more? Oh shucks.

Adeline,

I admire so much the intricacy of your work and your feel for the color and the nuances of it. Love the choice of beads that you add to the main pearl... every time it's just right !!

Can I admit it, Ivona, that I take close to 1 hour just selecting the gems to go with the pearls? Thanks for the lovely comment.

K and C, I am really paying the price for my procrastination now. Have slept 4 hours in the last 48. I really hate myself when I do this to myself. (Excuse the inelegant prose; can barely manage to string a sentence together but had to go online and get my PG fix).

Adeline, your earrings are lovely, and your work simply remarkable. However, please take care and sleep (the nurse in me talking!) as we want you healthy (and in shape to post more of those pictures!). Hehe, I like your expression "getting your PG fix"!

What size are all those little gemstones, I can't figure out how you fit so many on there LOL I'm so impatient that I think I'd throw it across the room before I managed to attach 6 of them. I love both of them, but them I am a HUGE fan of your earrings! (I'm quite sure that if I ever screwed up the courage to try that style I'd end up with a pearl that looked like it had dreadlocks poking out of its little head) Gorgeous!

Lovey pieces Katbran!

Hope you re recovering well!!

Cheers
Ash

Thanks very much everyone! I'm a bit beaded/knotted out at the moment getting these last 5 pieces out of the way (two 50inchers in the other thread) .. but I just got some nice big smokey quartz in today..so I'm hoping for a bolt of inspiration...

The recovery is moving along...I'm on a cane now so its a bit easier on the skirting boards than the walker was...I think I need a painter in to touch up a few bits. :)

Hmm this thread needs some rejuvenation...

Does anyone mind me doing a plug for beadersand artisans on another platform? Here are some pearl designs that I have acquired from/ on Etsy in the last one year.

From bottom left (clockwise):
~ I am loving this wire crochet pair studded with saltwater keshis that Claire Pearse did for me with gems (scapolite and quartz).
~ A two-tone metallic pair made with my favourite gemstone materials (welo opal, rainbow moonstone, saltwater keshis and flameballs).
~ A moorish vermeil pair of hoops with lovely wire-strung rice pearls from Fig Istanbul.
~ A CZ plated snowflake pair with a dewdrop of gemmy moonstone and drop pearls. Pearls are mine but findings are from one of the many South Korean sellers on Etsy (can't remember which).

Here's to more contributions, everyone :)
